Thanks everyone for your hard work! We selected a winner. We've asked the designer to tweak the final design (to change the color to blue instead of beige) and to blend the type treatment with another draft she submitted (#88).

We have other projects that we'll be posting and we hope that you'll participate, especially those of you whom we gave four and five stars to your drafts.

We appreciate all your efforts and we were amazed by the number of entries. Thank you again.

    Dear PH~
what specifically are you looking for to look like a ribbon?

    Thanks!

We sent out some direct emails but there may be an issue with them, so here is the feedback

#389 - we really like this design a lot. Is it possible to shift the stuff that's in the pan a bit so that the one doesn't look so much like an egg?

#357 - Could you try this design with upper and lower case words?

#391 - Artsie, I sent you a message but see you're having trouble. Could you submit a design that makes this look like a blue ribbon and removes the tag line?

    Fellow Designers~
Question. My private message inbox says I have two messages but there are no unread messages in my box. Is anyone else having this issues since the revamp of the private message section of the mycroburst site?

#504 Love what you are doing with the positive/negative space of the spoon reversed out of the fountain pen. Would love to see the logo for Kitchen Counter Cooking School like this - simple and iconic. Text as a graphic element, somehow integrated, and not just a typeface on the side is the ultimate goal. A challenge with so many words, but you guys are up to it. Thanks for all the hard work!

Hey everyone, we just spent some time going through the entries and there are a few people who are really close and we'd like to give them some specific feedback and a chance to resubmit. We know it is late for many people, too, depending on where you are in the world. So we are going to extend this contest for three days and then write to several of you individually with specific changes as we think your designs are close to the finalists round.

We hope this ok with everyone.

Oh, if you have submitted designs that are very similar and we haven't ranked all of them, we've ranked the execution that we liked best at the time we looked at them.

#388 - We get what you're going for, but this design feels too retro.

Thanks everyone for all your continued submissions! We appreciate all your work and we can tell your integrating feedback.

    Some general comments:
    - We don't think that an egg in a pan works. It just seems hard to execute without the pan looking like a spyglass, so you'll probably want to avoid that.

    - To be selected as a finalist, you'll need to have a strong easy-to-grasp font, a clear iconic image and the words "cooking school" must be as big as the rest of the name and/or very easy to read.

    - We're really liking designs with a knife and/or a pan.

We've put off giving five stars (we took off five stars on a couple of designs we originally gave them to) until a little later today. There are a lot of designs and we want to be sure they're indeed finalists. Hope that makes sense

    Thanks again everyone.

#360 - we couldn't figure out what the things were on the edges of the pan, so if you do future designs with a tart pan, just keep the pan simple.

#353 - Artsie, love this concept inside the tart pan. Could you also do a version without the utensils in front? Thanks for all your entries. We know you're working hard!

#364 - like the circle approach, but as per earlier notes, we're trying to appeal to home cooks, and so we don't want image of a chef's hat. Maybe try with utensil (knife, spoon) or iconic image such as a whole chicken or vegetables.

#379 - perhaps could you try with a chef's knife? Like the take on it, use of positive/negative space.

#285 - like the utensils in the pie tin, can you try the text without a "glow" on it?

#299 #296 - love the boldness and clarity of this image :)

#292 - love the utensils in the pocket, really makes it feel homey and eliminates a bit of the invisible guy wearing an apron thing :)

    thanks everyone for your work!

#306 #303 - Small slip of the keys, it's cooking, not coocking

#238 Like the illustrated image. Could you also submit with an illustrated knife and cast-iron pan?

General comment, also applies to #238 #239 #240 #241 -- The name is The Kitchen Counter Cooking School so we're strongly leaning toward candidates that provide equal weight to all the words, not just The Kitchen Counter. On the ones such as #238 try bumping up "cooking school" so it is the same width as the line above.

#184 #185 - We like the roof on one of the designs, interesting take on "home cook." But the design submitted is hard to grasp - it might be too much going on to get what's happening. Cooking school needs to be as prominent as kitchen counter. In the round version, the stuff in the middle is too busy if you made it cleaner, that would strengthen the design. We like how you're thinking.

#111 - could you try this without the knife block?

  • 10 juillet 2011 02:00 mklozar

#231 - Apron looks much better! Perhaps bump up the text to have it equally weighted?

#96 - Really like your text treatment, a strong, single image above it would make it a stronger contender.
