We shared private, constructive feedback with several designers by opening and commenting on individual designs (#111, 116, 120, 123, 124, for instance). It does not appear to us that our feedback reached the designers because we have not seen updated designs based on our feedback. Have any of you received comments from MUDDYMAX on your designs since we posted our comment on Jan 18 at 5:33pm? If not, please let us know. There may be a problem with the LDG site. Thank you.

    1. Please read the following carefully. Feel free to ask any questions if you need any clarification.
    2. Designers have submitted a lot of excellent designs so far. We like certain elements from different designs but there is no one design that has everything together. We therefore decided to list the things that we like and would like to see in the final logo. The designer who, in our opinion, comes closest to following and satisfying the following list will win the contest.
    3. Very Important! Our logo will be used for web, print, screen printing, vinyl, and embroidery. We need a clean, sharp, consistent representation of the logo for all these output and use mediums. We’ll need the following file formats and resolutions: Raster: 300dpi PSD, outputs for immediate use, 72 dpi JPG, 150 dpi TIFF, 300 dpi TIFF Vector: SVG
    4. Make sure that your design will enlarge when we mouse over it on the website so we can get a good look at it.
    5. Please do not include or incorporate boot prints, tire tracks, running figures, flowers, a mud background, dog tags, abstract symbols, etc. in the design. After further consideration, we believe that they might limit our potential market.
    6. MUDDYMAX
    a. One word, no spaces, ALL CAPITAL BOLD LETTERS.
    b. MUDDYMAX – the two ‘M’ letters should be a slightly larger font size.
    c. Two Colors – Example: MUDDY letters in brown. MAX letters in black. We should be able to modify these two colors as needed for different backgrounds and mediums.
    d. All letters should have a shadow effect so they stand out and the logo has visual depth.
    e. Opposite shadow colors. If MUDDY letters are brown, the shadow should be black. If MAX letters are black, the shadow should be brown.
    f. NO MUD or markings on the lettering itself. All letters should be clean and easy to read. Clean, sharp, bold lettering is important especially for embroidering which does not show fine detail very well.
    g. No mud behind the lettering. The background color behind the lettering should show between the letters. This will add to the visual depth.
    h. Mud should only be underneath the letters, not on the top or either side. Keep the edges clean and simple. Remember that embroidery does not show fine detail very well.

All - The designs that show MUDDYMAX in all caps are more eye-catching, bolder and easier to read. Mixed case (MuddyMax) seems to be far less effective.

Suggestion: In either a real or imagined sense, put yourself in the mind and body of our target audience. Go outside somewhere to a natural setting. Find a shallow mud puddle. Play in it. Step in it. Write in it with your fingers. Experience what it feels like to get all muddy. Now imagine a logo that combines all that. You can do it.

All - If you read an earlier version of the brief it said the tagline should be displayed in the logo. That was incorrect. Please do NOT include the tagline. We apologize for any confusion.

#14 - Like how this includes the CAN DO attitude that we want to promote. Very good!!!

#7 - Thank you for showing reverse images so we can see how the logo might look with different colors on both white and black backgrounds.

All - We are in the sport industry and our audience is actively involved in mud-related events. These folks are not doing this in an office. Our logo needs to be non-corporate, all-natural except for some human touch. That is where the suggested footprint and/or finger writing come in.

#4 You have captured the Chiller font style but the lettering needs to be more uniformly bold and easier to read. The overall mud shape appears natural (good) but is too splattered. We don't want the logo to look like a stepped-on bug. See what you can do about creating more visual depth so it stands out.
