Wow! Getting quite a few new designs rolling in today! We appreciate all of your efforts! I'll check in a few times between now and the end of the contest in 4 hours should any of you have any questions.
We'll be reviewing designs tomorrow and hope to have a final decision by Wednesday. And then we'll have a stationary/business card design contest.
VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE - ALL DESIGNERS SHOULD READ THIS:
We had another advisory board meeting today to discuss the final designs. Thank you everyone for the wonderful choices!
After reviewing everyone's designs and getting into a deep discussion, the decision was made to change the name of the business to "Wenzl's Midwest Family Health" rather than "Wenzl's Midwest Express".
So... we have extended the contest for three days to allow anyone wanting to try their shot at this name logo.
According to our advisory board, the Midwest Express sounded too corporate and city like. Our board decided we need a more family friendly and more comforting name. We are in rural America, not the big city. We still desire a modern and professional looking logo though.
So, in GREEN/BLUE/WHITE/BLACK color choices, the name for the logo is now: "WENZL'S Midwest Family Health" and the tagline is still "Pharmacy and Home Care Experts". The Rx symbol could potentially be in the design. As before, the "Wenzl's" should be smaller than the store name. We will be branding "Midwest Family Health". I definitely can see the word "Family" being blue and the "Midwest" and "Health" being green. The "Family" in a different font - a more family friendly font.
I know several of you have spent quite a bit of time on designs already for us, and we appreciate your time!
We did place a bigger bid on this project because of the sheer importance of this to us.
One way or another, the contest will be over in three days with a guaranteed $400 winner.
Status update - we will be having another advisory board meeting to review revised entries in about 8 hours from now. Thank you to everyone who has submitted designs and who has made revisions to our specifications - we appreciate all of your hard work!
We will launch our stationary and business card design contest after this one closes for any of you that have interest in this type of work.
MycroBurst permits you to submit unlimited designs with unlimited variations. However, if you show 2 or 3 different color versions of the same logo in one draft, please make sure that if that draft gets finalized, each color version is separated before final files are sent out.
Will be unavailable to make any comments for about 12 hours from now.
Thank you to everyone working on our project. We have not made any final decisions yet.
If you are new to this design - please be sure to put a bit of height on your design to best fit our space. A good ratio might be 2 wide x 1 high for example. Pictures of our building are in the brief.
Keep the colors to blue green and white.
We will be checking back later today - it is hard to believe it has almost been 7 days already!
We have a lot of great designs, but none that work perfectly - but lots with potential.
We have narrowed the color choices to blue and red (with black/white for accent colors as an option) OR blue and green (with black/white for accent colors as an option).
The main PROBLEM is that some of our favorite designs are too WIDE. The space on our building is more of a square shape. The design could be a bit wider than tall, but not as wide as many of your designs are.
There is a link in our project information to see a picture of our building - some of you did your research and looked at this, but I know some of you may have overlooked this.
Due to the limited time left, I will try to private message some of you later today, but please don't wait for a private message to try making some revisions if you have one of these logos that are very wide.
Later today I will start to rate some logos to help eliminate some designs.
Also, please keep in mind that the "Wenzl's" needs to be small - probably about the same size as the "Pharmacy and Home Care Experts" and possibly even the same font too. If "Experts" won't fit on your design, that is an option to take the "Experts" off.
Also, when choosing fonts, keep in mind that we are a small town - friendly and easy to read fonts are best! Some of our favorites have a different font for the "Midwest" than the "Express".
Decided we are not loving the rectangle circle idea. I will take them to the board tomorrow but don't need any more with the rectangle circle style. Still up for any new concepts though if anyone has any new and unique ideas. Our first group board meeting is tomorrow to review designs so far.
A very diverse group of talent - thank you everyone who has participated! We'll be having an advisory meeting to discuss the logo's progress tomorrow so don't withdraw anything just yet.
I ran across another concept that I'll throw out to whoever would like to try. Check out: http://www.hallersrx.net/ I'd like to try something like this using any combination of blue, green, black and/or white colors. Put PHARMACY on the top of the circle and HOME CARE on the bottom of the circle. Put Midwest Express with the "x" under the "r" in Express to denote the "Rx" symbol in the white rectangle and "Wenzl's" in a smaller print over Midwest Express in the box too. I don't care for their mortar and pestle logo or type style. The concept of the rectangle and circle is what intrigued me. When designing, keep in mind that we are branding the Midwest Express and that Wenzl's needs to be minimized and that the sign needs to work with or without the Wenzl's on it. Thanks!
Draft #17 - I don't care for the WM logo or the WM logo font (not crisp enough perhaps?)Also, we are wanting to brand the Midwest Express name, not the Wenzl's. I like the fonts and the sizes you have chosen for everything else. Take the circle line off around Wenzl's. I still like the concept of using the RX in the name, so try one with and without this approach. Thks!
Designs #20-23 - Awesome! Would also like to see your examples with the "Rx" dropped down slightly (so that the "X" doesn't look like it is part of the Spelling of "Express". Make the "Pharmacy and Home Care" a little bigger. Also add "Wenzl's" in a font size similar to the tagline. The "Wenzl's" needs to be able to be on or off the logo. Thanks!
Draft # 6 - Interesting concept to leave the "Wenzl" in the brush script. Not sure that we want to, but I really like that you took the time to research. Not sure about the color combinations. Maybe some different colors. Also maybe without the line on top and try Wenzl's in some different fonts. Maybe a different symbol too.
Designers - another tidbit that will help in case you aren't able to download a picture of our building - the back drop for this logo sign is traditional red brick. Thank you!
#3 - Very sharp and different! I like the way you placed the "Wenzl's". If we expand in the future though we need to make sure other names both short and long will fit as well, so maybe move it up. Another concern is fitting this logo on our building - check out existing building pictures (read through the brief for link). I think this logo may be too wide; however, I do like that you have Midwest Express all on one line.
Drafts # 1 and #2 - I really like the Midwest Express that is without the "Wenzl's", but with the "Wenzl's" it looks too busy. Could you try make the "Wenzl's" smaller.
Draft #4 and #5 - I like that you made the Rx a different color. I like the colors in #5 over #4. Make the "Wenzl's" smaller. Also, the logo needs to work with and without the "Wenzl's" on it. Maybe try a different health related symbol. Overall the feel is in the right direction.
