Some great new designs on the board--thank you!

I like the designs with natural colors and outlines best. I like art that looks like a sketch, lines that look calligraphic or natural. I like both silhouettes and details.

I do not care for images or colors or lines that look cartoonish.

I uploaded my concept of a Japanese lantern in the rain. Please see the PDF for a sketch of what I'm looking for.

Those of you who are reading the color, font and image documents are getting your designs very close to what I want right from the start. Thank you for your time and effort!

Here's a new idea: Can anyone do an image of a Japanese lantern in the rain, with a puddle of rainwater and the logo? Images of lanterns uploaded. Color, rain and font as in other uploaded docs. I would LOVE to see this idea realized.

    Hi everyone,

One designer expressed concern about my sharing designs on Facebook. I have not shared any designs on Facebook or via any social media yet. I only had that idea because Mycroburst offers that function on their contest page.

This is a very legitimate concern.

If I am considering sharing your design via Facebook I will ask you privately via message, and I will ONLY share after I get your express permission.

    Your art belongs to you!

    Thank you.

    Hi everyone,

I went through all the designs today and re-rated. What my ratings mean:

0 or 1-Doesn't do it for me, or the revision is moving in the wrong direction

2-Some element or design worth pursuing or keeping here

    3-Coming together

4-Prefer over 3's, needs one or two changes

5-I REALLY like it, perhaps a final tweak

As you submit new concepts and revisions, I may downrate a design so you can tell more easily what I like best. Please don't take anything off the board--many designs that don't work for me as a whole have elements I'd really like to carry through into another draft.

I see four very different viable concepts on the board, all in development stages. Some designs are close to being done, just need few more changes. I'm waiting for the AHA--this is it! to hit me over the head.

Thank you for all your work. I am posting my favorite designs to Facebook tomorrow to get feedback from my colleagues and friends.

Please see uploaded documents for fonts I like, blues and greens I like, and images of rain I like. Many of you have wonderful ideas--I'd just like to see you move them more in the direction of these fonts, colors, and images. Thank you.

I uploaded a document with images of rain from Japanese Woodblock prints. I would like the rain, drops, puddles, ripples in my logo to look something like these.

I uploaded two images to show the blues and greens I'm looking for. Please feel free to revise your current designs to show them in these colors. Variations of your designs all in blues (no green at all), or black and white, or silver on black would be most welcome. I am an artist but not a graphic designer. Please put your own ideas about what looks best forward, as well as your interpretations of my requests.

Also, one designer asked why the obsession with rain. I thought it was a great question. My answer:

I'm a writer and a pagan, so I connect the healing, generous nature of rain with the flow of creativity. I have always loved the rain. Rain regenerates, it cycles endlessly, it has many forms (snow, ocean, glacier, cloud), it is ubiquitous, it can be gentle or strong, it can wear away the stone or wash it clean.

    Hi folks,

I love the way ideas are evolving, and appreciate your willingness to tweak initial designs.

Just FYI, I am not marking designs for "elimination" because they are hopeless, just to clearly delineate my preferences between similar or multiple entries from one designer, so you know where to concentrate your energies. I noticed you have also "withdrawn" some entries; I personally believe in never throwing away a rough draft, since good ideas may be buried there that can inform other work. So I encourage you to leave everything on the drawing board as we're working.

I did rewrite the creative brief and increase the prize money, so if you haven't looked at it recently, please do so!

Thank you for your hard work and submissions. Right now I see six different viable designs that have some elements that interest me. I'd love to see each of those designs developed to their fullest potential along the guidelines in the brief and my comments. I am already considering multiple prizes.

I appreciate your participation in this logo design!

    Attention Designers!!

MycroBurst permits you to submit unlimited designs with unlimited variations. However, if you are providing 2 or 3 different color versions of the same logo in one draft, please make sure that if the particular draft gets finalized, each color version should be separated before you will send the final files.

    Thanks,

    MB/LDG/LS Team

Thank you for investigating this project. After reviewing initial designs, here are some important modifications to my creative brief.

I definitely prefer more elaborate or illustrative designs, and the contrast of dark colors or outlines. I want the idea of the rain to be soft, but I like the design to pop out a bit rather than have a wishy-washy feel. Blues, black and greens look good.

I like the idea of the blue of water/rain/ink leading the the green of creativity/words, a blooming of the earth and the writer.

I don't like designs that are too boxy, simple or stylized. I'd like to see some asymmetrical or offset designs. I really like elements of the writing craft (like paper, fountain pens, inkwells, etc.) incorporated.

A single raindrop does NOT convey the sense of the generosity of rain/words that I hope to communicate. Perhaps rainclouds, gentle storms...?

Okay: My idea of "ocean" waves in the inkbottle doesn't jive with the logo Words Like "Rain." What about images of rain, rainclouds, rainstorms, raindrops on a water surface, or water (like the Lakeshore Writers logo referenced in the creative brief), ripples from raindrops, puddles...I still like the idea of water/rain in an inkwell spilling words onto paper, but I haven't seen it yet.

I really love the idea of the elements of the design FLOWING from one to another, conveying the idea of connection and transformation.

I look forward to seeing your ideas!
