  Yes

I want a clean and fairly simple/stylized logo for my soon-to-launch photography business. I'm a generalist photographer, but want something that is clean and elegant enough for art (mostly landscape) and product photography. Ideally, the design would include an icon or some shape that can stand on it's own and be used for an avatar. I can imagine a simple graphic related to a camera or lens-- nothing too complicated. I like the logo for my blog (http://natsfangirls.com/), which I have used in various ways (with/without the bat and diamond, with/without the text). Over time, I've found that I like the simplest variation the best (just the ball and the hat and the pony tail). I envision a photography logo that might be simpler and a little more abstract/stylized.

Something that works well with grey (the likely background color for photos on my website), black and white. Black or grey can certainly be used in the design, but I do want at least a splash of color. Thinking landscapes will help (orange/pink sunset, orange fall leaves, different shades of bright springtime green, sky blue). I want the shades of color to be both bright (with enough white, I guess) and muted a little. For example, on my placeholder website, I liked the orange in the butterfly photograph I used here (http://www.jenniferjenson.com/) partly because it's bright and partly because it works with grey. I'm not directing you to use the orange, but I like that the orange is bright/distinctive without being too much. Avoid red and yellow, I think. Other wise, I'm open to variants of primary/secondary colors.

  not sure

I checked a variety of types of designs above and collectively I'm saying: work in an image/icon somehow, if possible. Just text without a shape is probably not what I want (although I never say never). Also, if you use a font for my name that's also simple enough for me to incorporate in copyright watermarks, that's great--but it's not strictly necessary. Finally, I do care that about being able to put a logo on black/white/or gray and have it work. Thanks!
