Cherry,
I had asked to veil the contest and no one followed up promptly.
At the same time, I do not think I should have to pay extra to get people to submit their own work. I do a lot of writing for a living and just because I read other people's stuff, it doesn't mean I would copy it.
I understand designers can't totally ignore what they see, but a lot of the submissions I am getting are really crossing the line.
Jennifer
Attention all designers!
Please take a look at your design and ask yourself: did I plagiarize this design? Did I steal someone else's idea?
If you stole someone else's idea, I recommend that you withdraw the design from this contest. Tomorrow, I will report all designers who are obviously stealing others' ideas, but haven't removed these stolen ideas from my contest.
Folks,
Starting tomorrow, if it hasn't happened already, you won't be able to see one another's drafts.
In one instance, I asked two designers to try something similar, but other examples of similar work look like plagiarism to me. If you are obviously copying other's ideas, even if you implement the ideas well, you don't have a chance to win this contest.
Thanks
Dear designers,
A few thoughts to let you know what to expect from me.
-If you get 3 stars (or more) on something, I will follow up with a note. I consider 3 stars a hopeful start.
-One or two stars on something usually means that I like one of more features of the design, but something isn't working for me. I may follow up on one or two star designs, or refer to aspects of these designs when exploring revisions of designs that are "closer".
-No stars means either that the design doesn't work for me, or that I haven't seen it/thought about it yet.
-My follow-up time will vary as the number of options increases and--more importantly--because I'm often busy with other things on my end. Don't read anything into fast or slow follow up by me.
Thanks,
Jennifer
