i just uploaded a file to the original briefing that all designers can download showing a scroll up close. note the difference between fonts and font sizes, creating a feeling of randomness
***This contest is being extended because the client has decided that she'd like to see only logos that represent that product that is being sold, the bus scrolls. examples of the product can be seen at www.oldenglishd.com/detroitscrolls
She would like the logos to look like the scrolls, black with white or off white lettering (color #FFEFD5 would be good) and the tiny circles vertically down the sides. you can also make the scrolls look framed as well if you'd like.
she does not want a skyline or any symbolism, just text with fonts and styling to match the scrolls themselves. the text down the logo should say
DETROIT
SCROLL
.COM
HISTORY MADE
SIMPLY DETROIT
I have seperated the words/phrases according to how they should be displayed down the page. HISTORY MADE and SIMPLY DETROIT are to be seperated by a small circle similar to the vertical circles that go down the sides. An example of the circle seperation can be seen in the red logo on JewishMuseum.com between the word THE.
Everyone that has previously worked on the project and any new comers are welcome. The client will decide who wins after this extended period ends.***
#32 best so far. this is what we're looking for here, originality without completely ripping off the example image. looking forward to seeing how good you can make this, scott.
ok...can we please stop with the black and white scroll idea...FinalDesign has already done this. any copycats will be eliminated. can someone please come up with something original. if someone does something good looking with an old city bus it would be greatly appreciated and would probably have a good chance of winning this. some color would also be good to see.
lets keep in mind that these are old bus scrolls...they used to be used on busses way back in the day. i wouldnt mind seeing some designs that incorporate an old city bus either. please, be creative and think outside the box.
an excellent example of an old detroit bus is listed below.
you can see the area above the windshield...that is where the scrolls would be displayed to show people where the bus was headed.
obviously we can not use this image because we do not own it but please use it to draw some creative inspiration. i know this idea was not mentioned in the brief but it was an idea that just came to mind
grunge is fine...more than anything i couldn't even make out what your design even was.
more than anything we are looking for a feel of 'urban elegance', like a wine bar in an old warehouse, or a fine art studio in a brick loft. we want a feel of luxury paired with that of inner city.
with that said, FinalDesign ran with the scroll idea so that idea is taken. we like it, but we also want to see other creative ideas. Fismanaga, we are eliminating your design because it is simply a direct variation of FinalDesign's.
feel free to incorporate the scroll idea if you'd like to, but we would also like to see some designs that are creative typography, and symbol designs that differ from the scroll idea.
#5 i like this a lot, i would like to see it without the D.S.C. though...and btw, the skyline is backwards :)...bridge goes on the left hand side, i'm sure you can flip that around pretty easy...
