FYI. Designer nekaira is also a winner of my project but the project has not yet been updated to display there are two winners. Working with the designers and support to finalize everything.
Thanks everyone for the great designs. Excellent, professional work. The hardest part of this process is picking a final design when they are all so good.
I think the accent lines below the law firm name (draft #214), above the law firm name (draft #314), or both above and below the name (draft #341) add a nice professional touch to the design that is desirable for law firm marketing.
I also like drafts #173, #214, and #286 because those drafts each have something that helps to catch the eye, adds an extra layer of complexity to the design, and helps distinguish the logo from other logos that also incorporate a tree.
My favorite tree banner design is in draft #314 with the banner in draft #341 a close second
I am also confusing some designers when I request integration of the "STAND SURE" motto into the logo portion of the design. Please refer to drafts #164, #172, #177, #184, and #185 for examples of good integration of the motto into the logo/symbol. This is necessary for trademark purposes.
Sorry, I unveiled the project to help better explain myself.
I think I am confusing people with the term "small caps." Please refer to the capitalization of "Anderson Law Firm" in drafts #101, #145, #172, and #177 as a few examples.
Just to clarify. I prefer that the logo/symbol be placed above the name "Anderson Law Firm" and the law firm name should be written on a single row as "Anderson Law Firm."
I think my previous use of the term "side-by-side" in reference to the layout of the law firm name was confusing as many designers moved their logos to the left side of the firm name. Sorry about that.
I have finalized some decisions on certain design requirements. I'll go ahead and list everything that I have finalized on to date:
1) "Anderson Law Firm" should be spelled out in a side-by-side layout rather than "Anderson" placed over "Law Firm"
2) "Anderson Law Firm" should be in small caps not all caps. The font for "Anderson Law Firm" should be traditional, like a classic serif style font.
3) No solid circular borders around the symbol in the design. However, there are several designs that use a colored circular backdrop for the symbol and this looks good (without the hard circular border).
4) Please, no bright red in the design.
5) I've decided to integrate the "Stand Sure" motto into my law firm symbol regardless of whether or not the symbol is based on an oak tree design. The integration is very important for trademark purposes. Several drafts with good integration have used either a stencil effect (etching the motto into a solid background) or a banner.
I have started eliminating drafts today based on the above criteria. I will also be contacting individual designers with any additional changes I would like to see with your drafts.
I am looking for a symbol that can on occasion be used without my law firm name for certain purposes. The symbol needs to be unique enough to be readily associated as a trademark (actually a "Service Mark" SM) for my law firm even when the law firm name is not included with the symbol.
If you submit a oak tree oriented design I'd like to see a version with the "Stand Sure" motto integrated into the symbol. Please do not use the motto as a tag line. Most tag lines cannot be registered as a trade mark/service mark. However, a unique design can be registered and any text integrated "into" the design is included as part of the registration (the text hitches a ride through the registration process so to speak).
In regards to the font used for the law firm name, I have decided to go with a traditional font like a classic serif style font. I think this choice works best with my client base.
Thank you all for your hard work.

Needs to be a darker color, but the design is cool.
I just received some input from my staff and they all prefer a classic serif style font.

Browsing the web for logo ideas I have seen some oak tree silhouette designs/photos that I like. Its more of a two dimensional look, but all the branches add a lot of nice detail.
In regards to the font for the law firm name I favor either a classic serif style for a traditional look or a clean sans serif typeface for a modern look. This URL is a good reference http://legalmediamatters.com/best-fonts-for-law-firm-logos-ideas/
I know my brief is fairly long so I'd like to reiterate that my preferred color is burgundy.

Thought I would give some feedback to everyone.
