We have a winner. Congrats Mr. Sumit128!!!!

I fell in love with Draft #26 at first sight.
After many many many revisions I kept asking Mr. Sumit for, we made this whole design journey together... and I ultimately ended up at Draft #279.

It is EXACTLY me: playful, but not unserious, light and light-hearted, innocent (as in: "real" and "open"), witty, funny, well-balanced, happy (it looks happy), simple yet interesting, structured but flexible, never rigid and stuck up in my ways or in my approach in my work, spiritual...
All the things people constantly tell me I am... all the things I want my company to stand for.

I dunno how Sumit "got me" that well, but there was an instant connection. I was so much in touch with him in past week, I already know he will be a friend for life.

About the globe thing: I had never totally been certain I was going to go for the globe idea for various reasons, one of which being that filling up a letter "O" in a word, makes it less readable from very far distances or at really small print (as many of my marketing genius friends pointed out), another reason being that the globe/face idea has been done and used so many times before, that using it too would make my logo slightly less original and memorable looking.

Draft #279 is not any less memorable or recognizable as a logo without the globe or the face, probably the contrary is true.

It IS the WINNER, for many reasons.
Thank YOU Mr. Sumit for being so incredibly patient with me. :)

I wanted to thank you ALL for all your help and for all the AH-MAAA-ZING designs you have ALL come up with. You all made me feel like a kid in a toy store EVERY day in past week. I got up early every day and did not feel like sleeping because I was too anxious to check out your designs every day. I spend MORE hours on this website than I EVER spent on ANY website in my life before haha.

I love you all, wherever you are at on this planet.
This has been a great pleasure. This has also been a tough ride, but in a good way. I learned so much about logo design in past week... and it was REALLY tough to constantly choose and decide because there was so much outstanding and beautiful work to choose from every day in past week. I was overwhelmed with the many amazingly beautiful designs that kept coming my way.
When I "eliminated" a design, it always was a bit with pain in my heart, cause I knew I was discarding the work of someone with an incredible talent, who had worked for ultimately no pay, and who had done something I really liked, but that I could not choose for. There were many different reasons for eliminating a design: marketing reasons (too elaborate with detail which would get lost on business checks or newspaper ads), too personal (which would distract the attention from my business focusing too much on me as a person... like for example the beautiful bowler hat designs from designer Sharl which I really liked), too different from me and what I am trying to evoke in people with my design (like for example: too dark in font or color...), etc...

I have always done my utmost best in past week, between my ridiculously busy work load, to be as communicative as I could be towards you all.
The people who I had do revisions: I ONLY had you do so because I LOVED your design, when I honestly deeply believed that the design you had come up, made a very VERY serious chance of being the one I might choose. It was very important to me that you would not work unnecessarily or that none of your time and talent would get wasted on me or this project.

THANK YOU so much for this amazing experience.

In my book and my world you are ALL winners!!!

Much love to you all and your families world wide.
    Vreny.

Thanks to Kamalovs! saved me time. CH: you pick the globe if you want to. Otherwise, you may regret it and be unhappy. If you grow to not like the design later, it's very easy to come back here and have another go at it.
Using clip art is against the rules here at MB. So you may want to consult with them via the admin link. I think they would agree that if you want it, it's yours. I recommend NOT compromising. That way you know you went for the one that YOU wanted. You can always change your mind later with a clearer conscious than if you allow yourself to be influenced. Does that communicate? Good Contest.

THANK YOU so very much Mr Kamalovs for all your help and really highly appreciated advice looking out for me.

I needed that. I am very grateful for you helping me out and protecting my interests and business. If I choose Mr Sumit's globe design, I will have to work this out with him. I am right now trying to figure out which one of the many beautiful designs my favorite one is.
Many of my marketing and business friends pointed out that globes and faces are too highly overused to stand out, too cliche.
So I am taking all these points of view, marketing ideas and opinions into account that people have shared with me in past week. So as such, the chance is very real I might actually choose a design that does not contain a globe or face, but a regular simple letter "O". (and yes, my preference goes to Mr. Sumit's design with a regular "O" because his designs really speak to me... and in a way that cannot be explained in few words, totally reflect a very big and important part of my personality and vibe).

You all came up with so many amazing designs though, it's been quite tough to choose haha.

Again... thank you. I needed your help and great support and you've been incredibly nice and helpful.
    Best
    Vreny.

    please conciser.

  • 12 mai 2011 02:13 Kamalovs

    so here is the surprise:
sumit 128 is using clipart in his design. i am talking about the globe. here is the link. http://dezigntuts.com/dotted-world-map-vectore/
you can take that map and put it on globe any way you want but dot to dot it will match the original and it does. if you pay attention to details you will see it (check out Madagascar, Cuba, Italy, Gulf) those are the easiest. but pretty much it is clipart used, cropped out the rest but dot to dot it is a match.
so surprise to you CH, because your favorite design is integrating clipart.

Hmmmm.... Dear Robin56. THANK YOU for the amazing advice. I really appreciate it.

I will keep it open. Honestly: part of the reason why I made that announcement was that I don't want to be rude having you and tons of other designers spend time and energy and effort on work, that will be amazingly good, but that might not get selected because I already love the one I have set my mind on so much so far.

Maybe you're right and maybe I should wait to see what else comes my way in the next couple of days.
Thank you so much for helping me with this and advising me. I definitely need that.

  • 8 mai 2011 19:21 robin56

Hmmm. Are you sure YOU ARE DONE? Lot's of good people wait till the very end to submit because of copy-cats. Okee Dokee.

IMPORTANT; READ THIS to save yourself a lot of time and energy.

    WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr Sumit128. His design is simply BRILLIANT and I chose to go with one of his latest drafts #231 to #233.

I just need the time out of my business day today to figure some things out and I will close this project when I finalized some minor decision making later on tonight.

THANK YOU for all your amazing outstanding work.

Much respect for all your talent, and much love to you and your families all over the world.

    Best
    Vreny.

Please advice and do notify me if am doing wrong or in any way harming anyone's creativity and output.

I noticed, to my surprise, that the competition is actually really darn fierce on here amongst designers. I had designers "fighting" on my page and emailing me to let me know that someone else's design contained design elements that have already been done or exist (with urls provided to show me logos of other already existing companies that had same design elements like something someone had submitted on my page)

I was like whooowwww... this REALLY is a competition apparently and people want to win.

So I understand fully that THIS IS YOUR livelihood and INCOME... and the LAST thing I want is that any of you feel like I am taking disadvantage over your work, inspiration and creativiy.

A designer emailed me with a dispute about the world/globe in my designs, saying that he came up with it first, and that he had to report all designs that had globes since, as he felt he was being treated unjustly. I do really totally understand him... but...

    Look...

Keep in mind though... I think it is important not to loose sight of following: IF I would not choose yours over somebody else's... then that "world/globe" design really actually does NOT HAVE ANYTHING to do with the outcome of my choice. Whether there is a globe or not, is NOT going to be the defining factor.

Meaning: whether there is a globe or not is not what influences my choice. It is the vibe, atmosphere, emotion, impact, visual color, feel, etc evoked and expressed by the logo... that will be the defining factors.
So the world/globe things in that regard... is really not the most important part of the logo.... it is only one little factor in the overall big picture of the logo.

I fell in love with logos not because there was a music note, or a globe, or a treble clef, or a blue color, or etc...
I fell in love with the logos I fell in love with, because of the combination of color, motion, lines, etc... and because of how closely that logo matched MY personality and the mission of my company.

Hence, also, copyright wise... (which is what this is about)
Like I said: I had already brainstormed with people at my office here, and compiled a list of things that could be cool or that could work with the logo, BEFORE I posted this project here. And YES... a world/globe WAS on that list I already had put together!!!
Think about that now: I MYSELF mentioned in my brief that my goal with my company is doing good and helping the world become an easier place to live in through music...
Hence: Do you really think I did not think of a globe myself then????

It can't be too hard to imagine how I already had toyed with that idea long before having gotten any designs with globes.

I respect you and your talent highly.

Advice if there is anything you feel I could do better, differently, or if you feel I overstepped boundaries due to personal ignorance (me never having used this service before)

I have always been very wary and careful with copyright because I want you all to know how special and appreciated your work is to me.
I don't think I overstepped any copyright violations here.

But again... please do advice if you feel I could improve things in my dealings with you guys.

    Thank you very much
    Vreny.

    IMPORTANT: READ THIS.

A quick update before I got to bed and then start a super busy crazy weekend (which makes that I am not going to be able to get back to you all as quickly as I would want to and participate here)

Unless someone somehow still comes up with something that TOTALLY blows me away, this is who you are up against:
    My TOP 5 favorites

    1) #111 This one, for many many reasons makes the most chance of winning here. Much depends on the final drafts I am expecting (hopefully) soon from sumit128 with tons of revisions and ideas I had asked him for. It is to me the logo that REALLY tells a lot about me, it is simple, clean, and it has a lot of personality.

    2) #175 is my 2nd favorite one. It is very classy, strong, stable, catchy, simple, memorable and has a nice shape to it. I am also expecting versions with a couple more updates to this from Mr. Ferdiyan.

    3) 3rd place so far for me: this place is shared by 3 designs that I am in love with as well... in no particular order, all sharing the same 3rd place are #64, #77 and #123.

I have asked Mr. Tpixel (draft #64) and Mr. sniperwuf (draft #123) for a couple of updates on their drafts... which I am hoping to get later on today. #77 by Logospecialist I never contacted the designer about cause I felt it was perfect already as it is.

Which leads to following 2 things you need to know about:

    1) If I eliminate your design without commenting about it, then that is because 1 I am going to be superbusy in the next couple of days and won't have as much time anymore to communicate and 2 that would be because I don't see your design matching the level and quality of my currently chosen top 5 favorite designs listed here.

    2) Yes, I managed to so far narrow it down from almost 200 designs by now to 5, and I think all 5 are going to be equally perfect once I get the updates from my 5 fav designers. So why am I not choosing yet and closing this project??? The reason is that 1. I want to see what else one might come up with (though I don't really believe that anyone is going to top my 5 fav designs) and 2 because the final decision is not only going to depend on me... but on all the opinions, insights, and advice I will get from EVERYBODY in my life who I will present my top 5 favorite ones.

However: you are still more than welcome to submit here ofcourse if you think you should or if you strongly believe that you could beat those 5, or if you strongly believe that you can still come up with something that will blow me away.
Just keep in mind that I feel very confident about my top 5, and that I will simply eliminate your design to keep things open on my page and organized, without any explanation if I feel my choice still goes to my fav 5 and not to yours.

Just wanted to share that with you so you know I am not being rude or incommunicative. Just trying to save you and me time and effort with this information here.

In any case: THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your amazing help, and talent. I cannot thank you all enough. I have been incredibly blown away by all your work and efforts.
This has been quite the amazing experience so far.

Best of luck and much success.
    Vreny.

It looks really great, but not what I am looking for.

I emailed you with an excerpt copied from this following post on the page here:
    "May 6, 2011 8:41 PM"

Please don't see following as me putting a cap on your design skills and creativity.
I don't want to come across as someone who is controlling and diminishing your creative output and ideas. Please do keep throwing out visions, ideas.
I only intend to help you with your work flow and design, by being more specific in what I like and am looking for after having learned so much about designs and possibilities in past 24 hours.

The excerpt I copied and emailed you says:

So in recap, to add more direction and save you all time and effort… I like/love experiments and designs with:

    1) The letters “Z” and “i” in the word “Zin” slightly tumbling as in #111. This gives it a witty, fun touch, showing that the company is playful, inviting and endearing
    2) I don’t like more than those 2 letters tumbling, as that creates an impression and image of instability and unreliability.
    3) The colors of either #120 or #111
    4) Experiments with adding the beautiful ellips idea/concept/design of #119. The ellipse is something I would really like seeing added to the design, as it creates a sense of “we’re all in this together” kind a image. “We’re all together”, “we’re all one”. It’s like an embrace… MY COMPANY EMBRACES YOU and nurtures you with music. I think we need that ellipse in my designs. I REALLY like how it was done in #119.
It ALSO creates the impression of a stage… a podium that the company name is performing on.
    5) Have a world ball/globe in the “O”… as this gives my logo an air of “global”, ‘worldly”, “universal”… “seriousness” etc.
    6) The “N” backwards… as that portrays the individual, different, creative, special, ballsy, rebellious, daring to go against the flow, not following conventions and opinions kind of nature of the company. (it also adds a personal touch referring to my left-handedness).
    7) I DO NOT like adding too many musical symbols, as my name already says “music”. I especially want to steer away from having treble clefs in my design, as this has been done before in way too many musical companies logo designs, which would make my company logo more generic and thus less special.
    8) I need to have a sense of vitality, MOTION, direction, forward movement, in my design. One REALLY COOL idea that I feel strongly about… is to have some slight vibration added to the letter “O” (which would be filled up with a depiction of the planet Earth/World). This would be like: “ZOT Zin Music ROCKS YOUR WORLD” haha (which I had been joking in an email to Mr. Sniperwuf could become my new company tagline haha.

    #156 and #163.
Fantastic work. Very nice graphic and it has the simplicity and flow I am looking for.
Unfortunately: I cannot use these designs as my company is going for "universal" and "longevity" ... and these designs have a bit too much of an Asian market image instead of a broad universal image.

  • 6 mai 2011 22:41 vreny
    Porteur du Projet

#157. Man I totally agree and I hear you: it DOES look super cool... but I can't accept the design for the reason explained below, and because I want the focus to be on "ZOT Zin"... not just only on "ZOT", which is a bit the case with this design. I have to emphasize though that you indeed did a very beautiful job on that one.
Sorry that I need to come across like I am rejecting. Not something I like doing. :)

Draft #148. It is incredibly beautiful...
but it alas not what I am looking for as the design, with the nicely designed boy playing guitar... creates an impression/image of youth.. while I have to be careful that my identity as a company is not mistaken as being a company that works with children... which might be how Zot zin music is perceived with this logo.

  • 6 mai 2011 22:33 vreny

Draft #155 no square/block designs... no clefs. (This had been covered in the comments underneath).
Such a shame cause this is a very very beautiful design.
