It was a pleasure talking with you and learning about your company, I would love to be able to visit your store but unfortunately it's a long long distance away. Anyway, congrats to the winner and happy 20th anniversary again!
It has been a great contest and we have really enjoyed seeing the ideas coming in from all of the designers who have participated. Now we would like to congratulate miamiman53 as our winner!
Thank you again to all of the designers who participated and especially to ilias, who put forward an awesome design.
We would again like to thank all of the designers who have participated in our project. We have decided to extend the project for two days because we are still interested in tweaking some of the designs that have been submitted and seeing if anything better comes in.
Designers who have already submitted - please see your private message inbox to see if we have sent you feedback. We have already sent or will be sending very soon all private messages regarding changes to designs that have been submitted that we are interested in, so if you have submitted but have not received a message we encourage you to resubmit with new designs only.
Regarding the EagleFeather font, we were able to find this font available for free download with a quick google search. Here is one quick link that we have used to download a copy of this font in the .TFF format: http://www.font-zone.com/download.php?fid=583.
We have finalists in mind that have used the Eaglefeather font and some that have used a different font, so while we would love to see a winning logo that uses Eaglefeather, other fonts are acceptable and may be more attractive to us in the end. Feel free to keep experimenting.
Once the contest ends this time we will be picking a winner. We're looking for photoshop or similar file types, ideally with the history preserved so that we can make further changes, but definitely with the elements separated out as layers so that we can change colors and make other small changes.
Thanks to all of the designers who have participated or will be participating in our contest. This process has been enjoyable and educational for us, and we're looking forward to finalizing the right logo and proudly displaying it everywhere that we can.
If you are going to make a "required font" then maybe you should purchase the font for everyone. Why do you think that not that many designs submitted have that font?
MycroBurst permits you to submit unlimited designs with unlimited variations. However, if you show 2 or 3 different color versions of the same logo in one draft, please make sure that if that draft gets finalized, each color version is separated before final files are sent out.
Thank you all for participating. We're getting some good ideas, and all of the submissions have helped us narrow in on what we are looking for.
So far we have liked the simpler logo designs more than the elaborate ones. We prefer the words "Rhythm Traders" to be written in the same font with the same weight, so that it comes across as a two word term. We are not interested in big R letters or big RT letters as design elements. If there are going to be images of drums included as a design element, which we encourage, they must be drum set drums and cymbals primarily. Djembes, Congas, and other African and Latin drums are fine if they are in the logo alongside drum set drums, but we do not want them to be the focus as this logo is about conveying that we are a professional drum shop with products and services for all drummers.
We are going to be using this logo against a dark textured background, similar to what you see in the screen shot of our new website that is linked to in the brief, so we need a logo that works on this background, with colors that fit into the rest of our new site design. We would also like a version of it that is black and white against a white background, so using design elements that are simple and look good in black and white are important. In order for the logo to fit into the desired space on our website, it needs to be rectangular with dimensions approximately 400px wide by 110px tall. Wider or narrower than this would be fine, but we only want to allocate about 110px of height in the header of our site layout. We want large versions of the logo for T-shirts and other purposes, but if the logo is too busy it doesn't always look good when reduced down to this small size, so please keep this in mind.
We would also like to encourage the use of the Eaglefeather font. After seeing many alternatives, we have preferred the Eaglefeather font for the words "Rhythm Traders" in most cases. If you feel that there is a more perfect font to capture the character of our company, we certainly still welcome your ideas and encourage your submission. The Eaglefeather font is special to us because we have used it for years and it is on the front of our building, and we feel that its art deco style is a good match for our company. Feel free to style it up with additional colors, shadowing, outlining, etc., but please keep it simple and subtle.
Simple design elements with 2 or 3 colors have been the most compelling submissions so far. We have not settled on a winner yet and will be eagerly awaiting more submissions right up until our contest ends. If you have already made a submission, please check your private message inbox for more specific feedback. Thanks again to all the designers for your time and creative energy.
#11 & #12 - Thank you marty1950. We appreciate your submission, but we are not looking to use a big R in the logo, and we need the logo to communicate that we are a drum store. Also, the reflection effect on the text does give depth, but it adds too much complexity to the logo, and the underlining on Rhythm Traders is a bit too thick and prominent for us. We are looking for something more simple and elegant.
#8 & #9 - Thank you rideandsurf. Your design is well done, but if drums are to be included we need them to be drum set style drums. We are trying to convey the image that we are a pro drum shop, and while ethnic drums are fine to include alongside these, we need drum set style drums to be prominent so that the association is clear. Also, the font that you used is pretty, but we're looking for something that is a bit less casual and a bit more regal and authoritative.
#4 & #5 - Thank you for your submission mzdawn31. We are looking for a simpler looking logo, and while we appreciate that your submission has lots of depth and that it is very drum-specific, it is too busy and not as elegant as we would like. Also, using the letters RT in the logo as a design element is not really something that we are looking for.
#3 - Thanks for submitting harrina. We are after a logo that looks more warm and friendly. The fonts that you have used are a little too sharp and aggressive looking for us. The overall design with the background image doesn't really convey that we are a drum store, though I can see that you read in the brief where we said we wanted the energy of the logo to match the loud intense energy of drums. We mean this in a very non-literal way. It's not so much that we want the logo or any images to look like they are pulsing or moving. We just want it to look like we are enthusiastic about all things drums as opposed to just casually selling them. We want the logo to highlight our passion for drums.
#2 - Thanks for submitting WahyuTriWibowo. We are open to using a drum set image in the design, but it must be worked into the text of the logo in a more creative and seamless way. Perhaps "Rhythm Traders" should be written on top of the image, as if a higher layer in the stack than the image, rather than just written under it on the same level, as right now it looks like the two elements of the logo don't necessarily go together. There is also a little too much detail on the drum set image, and we don't really like how it looks like its made of geometric shapes. Perhaps a hand-drawn cartoonish looking drum set would be more effective. We want to be able to scale this logo for different situations, so a simple drum set image, even one that is blacked out so it appears as just a shadow or an outline of a drum set, is more preferable than one that looks too complicated or busy.
#1 - Thank you for your submission insomnialeet. The font is a step in the right direction, but the logo does not communicate that we are a drum shop. We're looking for something that indicates this clearly. Also, we'd like the text to be more easily readable regardless of which color background it's on, but especially on dark backgrounds.
