Designers,
We have decided to move away from the fire concepts in the logos. Please avoid these for any further submissions, they don't merge well with our corporate vision but thank you all for helping us discern this.
With a day left please have any work submitted for consideration by the afternoon so we can properly discuss.
Hey guys, just an FYI that we are holding our quarterly meeting tomorrow, Sunday November 28th at 2pm EST so please try to get any of your submissions in before then so we can discuss them in our executive meeting.
What a way to wake up on a saturday morning! You guys have really turned up the heat in here.
#43 and #42 are fantastic. Logo maniac, is there any way to have the 8 in #43 fit the fire better, so it has the same feeling i had when i saw #29. Like make it more rounded so it looks natural. Great choice of fonts on both of these and i definitely dig what you did with the fire/columns.
aqvart100, i like your #27 submission, but not really feeling the colour choices. Can you try this with another font, in line with the sophisticated look we're going for? And try something else with the whitehouse image, so it represents more like how mnorth approached it with the ancient column look.
auraavatary, i think of all your recent submissions, none of them have the same element of class that #19 has. I find them a bit too cartoonish, and too much detail. As mentioned, we need something easily recreatable and suggestive - without being too in your face. Maybe the house on fire isnt the way to go.
mnorth, have you given up on us? I think you were getting close to something great with #22. The simplicity of the fire in #21, which you withdrew, is more of what i'd like to see if we were to use any fire in the logo at all.
logomaniac, i love what you've done with #29 - maybe think of another symbol to use outside of the maple leaf, because as we grow, our artists are not solely Canadian, nor is our audience. The idea of the burning the house is the idea of fighting back, not necessarily Canadians fighting the USA.
The way the fire raises out of the 8 is a great idea, and again, that symbol will be what we use for our basic branding on merchandise like hats and shirts - so drill down on that and make that even more powerful an image.
Great to see new faces in here putting their work up for consideration. As always, my team and I are continually impressed by the talent in this community.
And to clarify, the house or that small image should be a unique shape - something easy to recognize and reproduce for any other branding. Hopefully that helps in my cloudy Friday morning thoughts... :)
Auraavatary, what's the significance of the circle
In the house of #25 ? for your designs that little corner is the most important and for us would be the logo that we put on t-shirts and hats. Please focus on making the house a concise image. I think if u could have a mix of the two you've done latest that it could be what we need.
#22 that is a great blending of the two ideas. I can't say I'm crazy about how the flames are shown though. Not sure what to recommend either. I think the roof is too big though.
Or better yet, a mix of #19 and #20 , where the columns are "1812" and add the flames or some kind of stylistic way of signifying burning behind them. Add the roof on top of the numbers too...
I love the sophistication of #19 and the touch of red on the bottom right. It truly is a rebrand, reimagining the original logo. I would think you could do more with that touch of red- like make it a little house on fire or something in that vein. Ideally something recognizable so we could even use that small part as a branding of it's own.
I also like the edits mnorth, #20 looks really cool now. If I could provide any feedback it would be to match the style of the pillars and the fire. And a better way of integrating "1812" into the image. A more sleek font might help as well.
Really love mnorth's #12 , but I think you could be more selective with the font. Instead of focusing on the American whitehouse, I would like to see you focus on the ancient pillar architecture you have in the picture - so it more represents burning down the old house, not just an American image.
Also, we'd like to see representations without the "Recordings" in the logo, just the "1812" done stylisticly as minimal as possible for corporate branding on stationary, polo-shirts, and posters. Big points for style on this - and a way it can be integrated into the complete logo for "1812 Recordings."
I like Prokor's #7 for the classy touch of colour and the incorporation of a microphone in the design.
I would like to see more creativity around the font and design of the numbers "1812" as you can see from our previous logo in the brief, it was done in a different way to create a strong shape, and sharp lettering.
And to answer another question we have received repeatedly:
What is the significance of 1812?
1812 is significant because we are a Canadian record label - and in the year of 1812, the USA attacked Canada, but Canadians fought them back to Washington and burnt the white house down.
It is not the idea of "fighting," but of "fighting back." Does that help with your ideas?
Regardng #6 , what is the significance of the large R?
Thanks for the submissions so far, looking forward to receiving more from you all, now that we have increased the price to $200 and made it guaranteed.
I have increased the prize money ($200 now) and made it clear that we are guaranteeing a winner in this contest. I hope this proves to be enough incentive for the talented designers on this site to come out to play.
Of RRMdesigns' submissions, we like the simplicity of draft #1, but perhaps it is a little too simple for our logo.
We welcome more submissions and although we haven't put this as guaranteed on the site, we are determined to select a winner from this exclusive contest.
