Artifex42 - oops, forgot to clarify change number 3, should be "ODDS MODS", thanks so much for those last tweeks, will really help us decide!

Artifex42 - #106 Nice work, it POPs, we like that its fewer colors (less $ to print, etc).

    3 tiny changes needed:

    1. Forgot to mention earlier sizing the scooter that it fits inside the inner borders so sunrays go all the way around the scooter.

    2. The scooter headlight is not quite right, needs to turn slightly to the right also, more of an oval shape, so its in the right perspective with the front wheel, thanks for that quick mod!

    3. One change to the bottom text, we like the last change, but also would like to see: "MODS ODDS". That is slang for the scooters we work on and optionally it would be cool to have that as tagline text, for stickers, etc.

Thanks to all on this project, big decision coming!!!

WOW WOW WOW, all are looking GREAT! Its going to be a tough decision, if there is a chance for last touchups, here they are:

Sniperwuf - #96 is great, but need to shrink the scooter so it fits entirely inside the crest, so the is sunrays behind it go all the way around the scooter. Also the headlight lense needs to be turned just a bit to the right to be in perspective with the front wheel. If you an adjust this that will complete the logo, all else is very very nice.

Artifex42 - #95 and #94, also great. Just need to change the bottom tagline to "CUSTOM STOCK", that will center the star symbol and balance out the design NICELY, looks GREAT!

Polenk - #92 - No changes, looks GREAT

    Tough decision to make ahead!
    Thanks again to all!

Last day! We're down at this point to 2 logos at this point. But haven't seen any last revisions to 2 others as requested (yet!).

Would like to thank everyone for submitting one last round of small revisions to make up our mind here tomorrow!

    1. Artifex42 - Draft #84

    - Nice work overall!
    - GREAT colors!

    - NICEST angle positioning of the scooter but the illustration is just too abstract, it needs to be more realistic in shape (but simple with limited details), similar to the feel of the other scooters shown under last consideration. Please keep the next illustration ALL in BLACK though, its a NICE contrast to the background sunrays.

    - Please change the shape of the bottom banner tagline ribbon back to your prior version, so its reverse to the upper banner text.

    - Also change lower banner tagline text to: CUSTOMS (star symbol) RESTORATION. PLEASE make the star symbol a little larger. Deleting "Parts" should enable you to slightly enlarge this tagline text as well.

    - Please add sunrays below the scooter, which you had before, it is important to put those back in, with your design, so it really signifies the emphasis is on the scooter, the sunrays draw your eye to this scooter icon in the center.

    2. Polenk - Draft #79

Thanks for returning us back to just the scooter, the layout looks GREAT!

    - The scooter illustration is what we're looking for, but we were looking for either ivory/cream, or perhaps a sage green, and darker shades of that color as you did with the blue.

    - If I forgot to mention, we do not want any red color for this logo, only a slate blue color or light sage/olive green similar to what you show in your Draft #61.

    - Also, we like the top crown, but we wanted the center point to have a slightly larger ball with a white star inside of that ball. The ball size should just be a little larger than the ball size you used to the left and right.

Thats it, but we really need to see these changes, we love this layout, if we can get back to the muted vintage colors as mentioned this is going to be a clear favorite for us!

    3. Sniperwuf and Hymodesign, still hoping to see your last drafts too!!!

Hymodesign?? Draft# 71, was especially very good, especially the scooter, use of color, and fonts!!

Would like to encourage you to consider a different overall border layout that is more consistent with period looking badges of the times. I don't think you were too far off given your clear talents here!!!!

Thanks for re-evaluating so your nice details might work better for us with different overall framing.

Please note we are no longer interested in wing elements, but we really want to retain the crest looking elements. If you can incorporate the parts we really like that you've done, you are a contender to win!

    Thanks so much!

Artifex42 - Thank you too for the continued work, you are also one of the final contenders here!

    1. The good at this point, referring to your DRAFT #38, lets try to work with and focus on that logo one last time here.

We really do like this design layout, its also self contained, would make a great sticker, but it is very busy with details which makes it hard to silkscreen.

We love how we can have a tagline in this design to describe just enough of what we do, and it balances off this design nice as well.

We love how you captured the sunray effect also!

So, DEFINITELY some hope with this design we think too after studying it!! So here are some more simple changes that we think would make it pop better:

Colors - its still a bit too dark, we need to go lighter with this logo design, and only use black, white/ivory(cream), pastel blue (or pastel sage/olive green, NOT MINT NOT TURQUOISE). PLEASE no more REDS!!!!

Also, please delete the wings elements on the left and right, leave the other vertically angled border elements. The wings just make the design TOO busy, we stretched to far and wanted too many design elements on this one.

Please delete the dashes ("-") in front of the text and after the text, it just complicates the design.

The biggest issue still though unfortunately, is the scooter illustration. The perspective/angle works in this logo layout nicely, but its just too much like a stock clip art illustration.

We really need for you to try drawing something simpler for a scooter, showing off your artistic ability, with ALOT less black on the scooter. Please illustrate the shadow areas much lighter and no use of black if possible.

The fine component details on this scooter also need to be eliminated and simplified, no detail trim on the front fender edge, nor on the rear cover, simplify the shape of the horn (just above the fender, and definitely delete those little six little circles on the front wheel, and delete the three in the back. Also just apply just a hint on the front wheel that there is an element of what is a front wheel shock, no detail please!

The scooter should be shaped more like a Vespa model GS160 or GS150, very rounded, no square or hard edges, and only have one long bench style seat, not 2 seats front and back. If you can capture this shape better, simplify the details more abstractly, with lighter use of colors, this logo would be absolutely killer!!!

THANKS for trying to dial this in for us with a couple days remaining!

Sniperwuf - Thank you also for the continued upgrades, at this point you are also one of the final contenders to possibly win on this design!

    1. The good at this point, referring to your DRAFT #74, is the overall logo of yours we want to work with and focus on here.

We really like this design layout, its also self contained, so would make a great sticker, which is something we want our logo to be made into!

We really like the nice classic elegant crown you designed for the top of the crest.

We would however would like to add a white "star" symbol in the center of the crown "headband" area, just underneath the center crown tip, centered in the black area. We think this one symbol element would add just enough of a touch to the logo.

NO other star symbols please, just one.

The colors seem to work as they are since no one color is overpowering the other. But we want to delete the rider on the scooter, which will delete the use of red, we don't like red as a color in this final logo.

The font of the text is very good as its narrow, but we don't like the "V", it should come to a center point in the middle at the bottom of the letter(not to the left side as shown). Thanks for modifying that.

    2. The not so good: Similar what we mentioned to Polenk, the side view scooter is not working as much for us as we'd like, or thought it would, and we need some more creativity with the color on the scooter to help make it POP!

Hymodesign's Draft #71 is working the best so far in terms of how that scooter was drawn simply, and with just the right colors.

So, the Scooter illustration changes we are only interested in at this point, also please:

    - Eliminate the person/rider

    - Modify your scooter design similar in linework and with slightly nice lighter effects shown on Hymoddesign's Draft #71.

    - The draft #71 scooter though is facing just a little too much to the side as we'd like, and we'd rather it was drawn more in perspective from the "worms eye" type of view (from more below, so it looks like we're "honoring" this scooter and looking "up to it", it you get what I mean. Looking for some creativity here!!

By facing the scooter forward or just SLIGHLTY off to the side, there is more symmetry to balance off the crest and sunray background effect, plus it dovetails nicely towards the bottom point of the overall crest, and gives the sunray effect a way to help even further highlight the center scooter.

Please delete any bird "wings" from your final design(s), we thought we wanted to go in this direction but it just makes the logo too complicated.

Please shorten the width of ribbon where the text is, we think its just a little to wide, especially on the ends, please shrink the width just a little more but please keep the same font Pt. size which we like.

Colors: Mostly your colors work (yes even the black on your logo), but lets just stick with black, silver, ivory/white, and blue now). We are just looking for a little more creativity as to the use of color in lightly highlighting the new scooter illustration, so that it has more of a 3-dimensional effect.

Again, the first thing your eye should go to in this logos is the COOL looking vintage scooter illustration in the center, and the complimentary color choices should draw your eye to this scooter.

Last comments - Sniperwuf, I really appreciate your hard work here, you have submitted the most drafts for sure, I think you can dial this in now, as you are also one of the finalists here, so thanks again for your diligence!!!

Polenk - Thank you for the continued upgrades!

    1. The good at this point, referring to DRAFT #78, the overall logo of yours we want to focus on here.

We really like this design overall, as its self contained it would make a great sticker, which is something we want our logo to be made into!

We like the font/text/size you used on Draft #27, which balances out better left to right and is is good proportion. If you could reduce the Pt. size just a little that would be great though.

    2. The not so good: We're still looking for a scooter illustration that is facing front, or just slightly off to the side. The side view is not working, it overpowers the crest and throws it off balance.

The focus really is on the scooter, and we want to simplify the center of the logo so the icon IS the scooter, with NO rider of any kind. This will just silkscreen much easier and simplify the logo!

So, the Scooter illustration changes we are only interested in at this point, please:

    - Eliminate the person/rider
    - Change scooter design similar in linework and AND lighter pastel ivory/creme/pale blue color scheme as shown on Hymoddesign's Draft #71.
    - The draft #71 scooter is facing too much to the side, we want the scooter to be drawn either; fully facing front, or just slightly to the side but facing front (in proper perspective). This is where we are looking for some skillful drawn artwork.

By facing the scooter forward or just SLIGHLTY off to the side, there is more symmetry to balance off the crest and sunray background effect, plus it dovetails nicely towards the bottom point of the overall crest, and gives the sunray effect a way to help even further highlight the center scooter.

    3. The, not good:

Sunrays: The black and yellow sunrays are way too contrasting and distracting, these need to be lighter in color, so they compliment with the lighter ivory/creme/bluish color of the scooter we are looking for.

Optionally, your use of the gold/white sunrays you once used in Draft #24 was VERY nice, and subtle. However we would like you to try a silver (or light grey color)/white) instead of the gold (for this effect), as we also want to change the crest and text outline/background color from black to a medium slate blue (like a darker french blue), and the silver would likely best compliment the blue.

Crest design: The crown part of Draft #77 is a little fat, the inner yellow line helped give it some dimension, but that line won't silkscreen well on product garments.

However, to help refine this crest and crown, give yourself some more creative freedom, try slightly flattening the top arc of the crest a bit and change from a 5 tip crown to a 3 ball pointed crown, no inner border linework.

Also, slightly enlarge the ball of the center top crown tip, and insert a nicely scaled "star" symbol (white or silver to match the sunray effect you submit).

Colors: Again, we have to get away from the black, its way too dramatic and not "vintage", so we need to soften up this logo image.

Therefore, in summary, we are again looking for a medium pastel blue/grayish color throughout on the crest and text background, with the lighter front (or slightly sided) scooter inside, and lighter/pale sunray effects behind scooter. The first thing your eye should go to in this logos is the COOL looking vintage scooter illustration in the center, so the complimentary color choices should draw your eye to this scooter.

Last comments - Polenk, I really appreciate your talents, I know you can dial this in, you are one of the finalists here, and I believe you have some of the finest skill in this work, so thanks again for your diligence!!!

Getting down to it now!! Some refinements requested to the best so far!!!

Draft #45 -- by Polenk - we are loving the direction of your design with its clean layout, its' a little 70's looking though, but we think but with some minor adjustments I think we can help that. Things we'd like to add/change:

Top center of shield crest: We'd really like to see a simple "crown" icon element added to the top of this logo to make it pop! That will help to give the logo a slightly more vintage look, while keeping with the modern look you have achieved. We arent looking for the crown to be tall, just tastefully simple and elegant enough that it just adds an interesting detail to this logo. For ideas on this, please see the crown on top of the "Starbucks siren" logo that shows an interesting 5 pointed crown (for an example), but the center is a star element (which we like alot). The website www.crowndeluxe.com will also give you an idea of what we are basically looking for on top, but please again not too tall, and it should span from the entire width of the top of the crest. Vintage Italian scooters used a "crown" element often as it is a part of the history of various logos, so one (probably in just black) would add a nice authentic touch to our logo, thank you for showing us a version of this!!!

Scooter illustration: We really like this illustration overall, its well drawn! A few small things though to dial it in. First, please slightly round the bottom edge of the back rear wheel cover (which you have drawn in the blue/light blue). The top is shaped correct, but the bottom of that cover needs to curve out slightly so it has no "flat spot" in the bottom center as you have drawn it. Also, please delete the inner thin vertical curved black line you have drawn, as this is too hard an edge for this wheel cover, as the cover was completely curved there. Please delete also the two small horizontal lines in the center of this rear wheel cover, those are only on the other side on a vintage center. On the front of the scooter, please change that red dot and leave it the same color as the scooter. Also, this red dot should be a round shape, not an arc shape as you have drawn it, as this was a chrome horn originally so you only should show a hint of a round shape there for this spot. For better artistic reference, so you can see they are in line with what we want, please google "Vespa GS160 scooter", and you will see what we are looking for (as a simpler but faithful version of) in our logo to make it accurate as possible. THANK YOU for understanding that it is important we get this right as our many customers will be sure to mention and bring up this "error in our logo" literally over and over driving us crazy!

Scooter rider: Please adjust the color of the helmet to be white, and the style of helmet should be closer to what you drew in your Draft #4, meaning it should be more like a "pudding style" half helmet. This is an earlier helmet style popular in the 60's, the helmet on the rider now is more 70's. Another small detail I know but it would again really authenticate the logo. If there is a way to suggest a black stripe down the front center as appropriate in perspective please add one, otherwise plain white is also just fine.

Text font: Its not bad, but also sort of a 70's look, and we don't quite like how fat that font is, as the "C" in scoot is very close to another "O". We really like something closer to the fonts being used in Drafts 38 and 43, and they might be fat enough so they can nearly take up the same distance on each side if you space them appropriately. Thanks for trying but if it won't work we would like to at least increase the space between the "C" in the font you are currently using, so that slot is wider. We are afraid that silkscreening the logo this "C" will be a problem as is.

Colors: We'd like to try changing the yellow to something a little more faded and lighter. We would like to see the yellow change to a pale green, or light olive green, its a more commonly used vintage scooter color than the yellow.

Thanks again for working with these changes, its looking very good at this point. Really appreciate your help, again we are really liking the serious progress on this one!!

Draft #36 - by sniperwuf - cool progress, we can see you are following along with what we are looking for, just not quite as strong as some of the other drafts....yet.

Feedback on the elements and some changes:

Top crown: This is too clip art style, and it sticks out too much. We would like to see a custom drawn 5 point crown that spans from the whole left to right on the crest, but actually only half to 3/4 as tall (ONLY!) as the small one you've drawn. The points should also have an accented small ball on the tips (so it looks more like a real crown), with the center one slightly larger than the rest. For reference, please google the "Crown Sunglasses" logo thats out there for inspiration. We would like to see that crown look part of the crest shape as maybe one piece integrated into the crest, and thanks for experimenting with some border work perhaps. Keep the crown simple though, just cool and elegant.

Scooter illustration: not bad but a bit too rigid in the details, some of the linework is "off" or out of a flowing perspective, like on the grills on the rear covers, but you can also consider dropping those details altogether. Something is off in perspective in the headlight though so that needs to be refined. BUT, we still would like to see a front facing scooter version from you, similar in the direction of Draft #4. When you try the front face forward version please try adding 2 small stars to the upper right and left of the scooter in the open sun ray area (close to the position of the shoulder area on scooter rider). Please note also your scooter rider/person shows too tall really, please shorten the person whether he is on an angle or front facing.

Scooter colors: We are either looking to see a scooter in either; cream/ivory, pastel olive green, or pastel baby blues, NO reds please thank you!!! Note the scooter rider helmet should be the same color as the scooter, with preferably a pointed tapered racing stripe down the center. Please see the www.reidstudio.com website for inspiration in how the helmet should look.

Sun rays background: Please use your #34 gold version and shape, but please lighten up the color a little, similar to Draft #24.

Wings: you are going into the direction we are looking for, but these look too rigid like concrete architectural elements, and just slightly too small. Please enlarge these where they are just a little, and experiment a little with some less blocky looking designs please, thanks!

VINTAGESCOOT text: we are liking the font style/direction of "VINTAGE" as shown in Draft# 27, white with heavy black border, it really POPS in that style and color!

Bottom crest ribbon: We like what you are showing here in #36 but please add in one more thin border inset into the ribbon to add depth to it, similar to how Draft #32 shows (in the bottom tagline ribbon).

Colors: please try to lighten, do not go with (yet) any worn effects.

I like your progress overall and commitment, we are nearly at 4 stars and could be over that if you take some time with these requested changes and refinements, thanks so much!!!

    Feedback with 3 days left!!

Draft #32 - by artifex42 - WOW, nice composition overall, but would like to tweek as follows.

TEXT: change to all capital white (black dropshadow) letters similar to "VINTAGE" font used in Draft #28, so it pops nice! We really like that font shown in Draft #28!

Scooter illustration: still too much "clip art" looking, need to simplify it (remove fine details and go for shadows and reflection elements), so it looks custom made for us, eliminate gradients, eliminate upper mirrors altogether, raise a little to minimize bumping into tagline lower crest ribbon, change scooter color(s) to the lighter powder blue, light/sage green, or cream/blue (see Draft#23, #24). Also please try a scooter illustration in these colors with just the front end of the scooter showing only face forward (to help narrow the logo slightly) only from a slight worms eye style view in perspective.

WINGS: please change to something more creative in the direction of a contiguous shape (see draft #35 as one example).

Upper text crest ribbon: Change so they slightly overlap onto the front of the new wings style(instead of folding in behind the wings).

Lower tagline text: Please change to; "CUSTOM PARTS & RESTORATION", and change the "&" to a white star symbol with a heavy black border please.

Sunray backgroud beams: Please eliminate splotchy/worn effect, possibly lighten up a little.

Black and white logo option: We do need to see the logo we choose in just a black/white format, for merchandising and packaging boxes purposes, thanks for posting.

Nice work overall! Nearly 5 stars so thanks for the continued refinement!

Some feedback as things are picking up:

Draft #24 - by Polenk - thanks! this is looking more unique now, the text font is not bad and nicely balanced with the design. Would like to see: a version of this with a double heavier black (or darker color) line outside the current crest border to add depth, and a version using a similar version to your Draft #4 scooter rider face forward inside this crest (instead of this tilted scooter). You can try to trunk off the scooter legshield towards the lower tip of the crest, similar to how you trunked this off on your octagonal lower border. Also we are looking to see your version of a set of art-deco-ish bird/aviation style wings would look like on each side of the crest, located towards the center of the logo. Depending upon how balanced the center scooter rider sits we would like to also see a either a center star above the rider, or two smaller stars to the upper left and right of the rider, layered over the sun ray beams.

Draft #23 - by hymodesign - not a bad layout, the font is interesting but not bold enough, its a little lean in terms of content, and we're not a fan of the rainbow background, we're more into those spiking sunray beams. The scooter is workable though, interesting period color choices we like. We're looking also for a heavier border for greater depth, and possibly also a set of aviation style bird wings on each side of this approach, thanks!

Draft #22 by Sangomma - thanks for the continuing refinement, we are liking the wings, but like the darker sun ray beams and color/texture style of your Draft #15. The "Vintage" text font is a little small and not very unique, you may want to experiment with a cursive version of "Vintage in perhaps a more interesting drop shadowed banner ribbon. The "Scoot" text should not cover up or confuse the illustration of the scooter or at least it should delineate more effectively like Polenk did in Draft #4. The scooter illustration needs work, its not a very accurate rendering of what a vintage scooter looks like from the front. Not bad progress so far, we can tell you are listening to our feedback.

Draft #21 - by Qcssoft - thanks for the submittal, can tell you are reading along with our brief and feedback. The logo looks a little washed out with those colors, and the scooter is just far too big for that layout, and there is an awkward solid color below the text. The font is "ok" as looks more like "country-western" rather than a modern vintage 60s-ish font we are looking for. Its also lean in terms of not having anything particularly eye grabbing or small details.

Thanks for the continued refinement work!

Seeing improved progress with drafts 13 and 15 by sangomma!! We are liking: the softer muted earth colors, the border work is promising and we really like the use of the fat and thin line border combination, and using something like that partial border section of "dots" as shown on draft 13 which gives the border some vintage creative depth. Really liking the much larger word "SCOOT". What we still don't like: the use of what again looks like clip art for the center scooter. We only want a unique custom drawn illustrated scooter, as demonstrated in drafts 4 and 5 by polenk, which is headed in the direction we like. The center illustrated scooter should be something not seen before, more simpified is better, something that shows off the artistic skills of the logo designer, please take some time and artistic license here by showing off your talents for this centerpiece of the logo! Please see "www.reidstudio.com" for just some scooter illustration styles and angles for some ideas!!! What we'd like to see next, as we're getting alot closer now: keeping with overall themes of drafts 13 and 15, change the overall border/shape to a "crest" like border as shown in draft 10, add period looking bird feathered "wings" on each side of the crest border (think art-deco style like aviation logos common in the era). These wings should not overpower the logo but add an interesting element to it, with maybe some shading or drop shadow to make them pop. Try adding a 3 to 5 ball pointed cool crown element on top of the logo, either above the text or tied illustratively to it. If it balances the logo better with these added elements, either "VINTAGESCOOT" or just "SCOOT" can be moved to the lower section of the logo. Please try this text within some kind of shadowed banner ribbon as also shown on the withdrawn draft #10 or in draft 15 "tagline goes here" area, but more creatively contained (again think ribbon banner or something that crosses over the crest border and touches the wings. Also try some gothic font styles next (some updated styles on the idea of sangomma's "Westside" logo he has done as seen in his profile logos). If "VINTAGE" is kept on top please make it more scriptive cursive. Last, please add in a small star elements on the left and right of the scooter. Once we get these elements nailed down (maybe mix/match/reposition a bit) we can finalize the colors, sharpness/graininess effects, etc. Thanks for reading along and trying to visualize best as possible what we are trying to get to next!! Keep in mind whoever we pick who kills this design we are sending you free swag and garb when soon as we get it!!! Thanks!!!!

Some feedback. Draft 10 overall shape is moving closer to various options we'd like to see, and we like the behind sunrays of Draft 11. But the sunray elements should not go beneath the scooter which make it look very busy. The positioning of the scooter in these drafts isn't bad, but the scooter illustration itself is not what we want at all, it looks like clip art and it probably is as its a dead knockoff of a 70s vespa scooter, and we don't work on blocky angular 70s scooters, we work on "vintage" machine age rounded scooters as stated in the design brief. This is where there is alot of strength in the illustration of Draft 4, but it needs the additional border and detail work as shown in Draft 11, to be further considered. We're really only interested in a unique logo with custom drawn elements, text, and details. Keep up the great ideas!

Draft 4 is heading in a direction we would consider in terms of the center figure/scooter, but perhaps a little more illustration involved and less of a superhero cartoon look, more classic, and perhaps perched more on an angle with perpective, or looking more upwards in a majestic fashion. The thin outside octagonal border we find is too small, weak and too simple, plus too blatant a version of the Piaggio logo. We would like something closer to a crest or coat of arms like approach with our new logo, so all or nearly all is captured inside the logo in a unique design, just makes it a lot easier for making stickers, badges, or patches. The outside border therefore should try to surround the entire logo and frame it in such a way, like with perhaps a few layers of line work that it gives greater depth to the center image. Its maybe between that linework where the logo text is located or intersects across horizontally, ideall slightly curved or in some kind of crest fashion. What comes to mind is some kind of blend between a cool beer label, an Indian motorcycle logo, but with a composition like look found on gourmet food products. Sounds funny, but that blend is sort of what modern vintage is. Would like to see a sun ray like beaming effect behind the scooter to give it that deep perspective or shrine look like you see in vintage labeling, just some more subtle detail that makes it pop like a lot of vintage style logos and event posters did, similar to the URL links I posted for reference. The "vintagescoot" text is interesting, but way too comic book-ish for us, text needs to be more classic looking, more in a vintage period look. Thanks for taking our goals into further consideration, and for being the first to put some effort int what we are looking for!
