I am formally naming pensive the winner, and the winning design is in between 83 and 94. However I have spoken to him and he has agreed to hold off on sending me the winning design materials until my logo contest finishes, with the plan being for him to put my new logo onto the final design.

Given the colors of the logos I currently like, I think that will end up being Black/Gold so I'll probably ask him to send me an in-between of 32/88 with the new logo instead of the existing VIP.

Congratulations pensive, and thank you to all participants. Especially thanhsugar, you did great work and were a joy to work with as well. I'm sad to see you not win. Good luck in future.

@ pensive, can you combine 97 and 100 please... so grey card with black trim and Gold VIP.

Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE 99! Can we do that one with the bottom part of the contact information side in black? Leave the VIP side as is.

also could we do the info side with the white part grey and the grey part black.

Lastly once we've added the black as in above can we use the color from 84 instead of the grey (lighter grey color) and see which is better?

This is getting really close to what I'm looking for.

i like the layout in 98 but i can't use those colors (blue + gold) because they are the colors of a local sports team and the association is too strong

    @thanhsugar

showed some of these to my friends and they really liked 81/84. The grey behind white really looks good.

The grey in #97 looks good, but can you put it on the OTHER side of the card, and combine it with a black/grey mix on the information side?

like #67 but with grey in place of the white

    Thanks!
I'll be back after my lunch break.
Thanks for your rates and comments!

also, out of curiousity I wonder what would happen if you inverted the shades of black on the other side of the card...

Those last 2 look GREAT! Much better on the backgrounds.

Makes me also wonder if 79/73 would look better with the same grey/white inversion.

I love the new background on 78... but again I guess it's tough to do in white. How about trying grey instead of white for that side of the card. This goes for both of you.

    Absolutely LOVE the rounded corners!

as for the texture part... is there any way to make the contrast less? Like can the grey part be made a closer color to white? So the pattern is still there, but not so obvious. And same on the black side, but obviously closer to black. Seriously the texture being too obvious is the ONLY thing I don't like about that card. Everything else is GREAT.

Making "Vandehey Investment Partners" all Black is MUCH better. Can you make the viphedgefund.com ON THE WHITE SIDE ONLY all black as well?

If you can get the texture thing to work more subtly this will be great... essentially can either one of you make something like the texture of the black part in #32 work in white?

for the shirt pictures i posted as patterns, i don't necessarily want you to copy those patterns, though if you do that's fine also. I'm just trying to illustrate how I want patterns to be SUBTLE. Thx

I've also posted pictures of a couple of shirts that illustrate this point well. The background pattern should be there but it should be SUBTLE... one should barely notice it at first.

Oh, and a couple of people have told me that the grey one in #43 says all the right things... so I guess we should keep that one in contention as well... and the nice thing about that one is that the people who like it actually like it AS IS... while the people who like most of the other ones like them, but have suggestions...

56 and 57 are both REALLY good, but unfortunately blue/gold and maroon/gold are the colors of the two local college sports teams, so they immediately make people think of other things around here. Other than that 56 would be pretty much perfect. Is there another good highlight color for that blue, besides Gold?

I still like 32 (and 56/57) best of all in concept if we can somehow pull it off without making people think of other things...

So maybe 32 but with the Gold part done in either red or purple. Or 56/57 but with purple and gold?

I also think 55/51 with the Gold part in Red and with some texture (white is too boring without texture)

or even 55/51 with texture... just white and black on VIP side, and Gold highlight on info side could work.

I think this last batch is really close to something that will work, we just need to sort the colors out for the most part.

I also still kind of like the presentation of "VIP" in #9.

and I mentioned this before but i wouldn't mind seeing an off-white card with a textured background... if it can be made to look elegant and stylish enough

also, the P before phone number an E before email are unnecessary

If I had to choose a favorite right now it would be 32, but I'm not sure if/how that would work in other colors, and I do think Gold/Black potentially reminds people of the wrong things

    Favorites so far would be... 32, 22, 38, 35

By far I like the backs of 35/32 more than the one color backs.

My favorite color scheme so far is navy/gold, but I also really like black/gold as well as the metallic blue though I'm unsure about the complementary colors.

In fact, none of the colors I've seen are bad at all, I just don't think white is the right complement for most of them.

    for thanhsugar

on the information side, I like the some white space... (like 38) better than the solid color (like 37)

My name is Todd, not Tood...

    General Comments:

I think I like the off-center "VIP", adds style and makes it look less like a nightclub card.

As for colors. I like black, navy, the light metallic blue. I think even white (or some kind of cream/off-white) could look good if the background was right... i.e. had the proper texture and finish.

With the lighter colors we would need to find colors that complement them well... for example, blue writing on a blue card probably isn't the best...
