  Very close. Add a small diameter inner gold rope around inner blue to separate text.

  Draft 5. Getting closer. Rays are too close to WWII Japanese Rising Sun. Google Image Search Illinois Seal. Notice water, sun rising,blue sky. Google Images Battle Art. Superimpose Eagle, Seal over battle art. Use Five Stars in the layout, pattern Five Star General insignia.

  Design #3, now we're cooking. Give me a US Shield, Rising Sun, like http://www.netstate.com/states/symb/seals/il_seal.htm. Gold Rope Border.
  
  Maybe Arrows in Eagle's claw, Battlefield background,star bursts, canon.
  
  Looking for representative elements:
  1. Five Stars (representing the five military branches).
  2. Eagle laying down shield (Military veteran leaving service)
  3. Rising Sun (new opportunities as a result of military service).
  
  This is the best so far.

  Thanks, I'll be back on it tomorrow. I know it looks really simple. I am drawing the eagle and whatever else I use from photographs, so it just takes time. Sorry about American, I'll change that too. Fiddlin Nita

  Draft #1. You have the general concept. However, your design is not sufficiently detailed (not much art). See sample: http://graphicleftovers.com/graphic/vector-eagle-seal-26/ That seal is for the State of Illinois, but you have the general concept. Eagle, battlefield, maybe some canons, star bursts - reflecting veteran's military service. Thank you for the effort.
