This is a logo design, and company branding, for a business start-up that provides social media advice to the entertainment industry. We are currently helping to manage the social media presence of several musicians and bands but in the future we envisage the company working with sports teams, sportsmen and sportswomen, actors, comedians and celebrities. Advice will primarily be given to people as opposed to branding for goods – i.e. we’ll be advising Lady GaGa rather than a Mars Bar! Our main focus at the moment is advising clients to make the most of channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and various Apps to support their goals – such goals could be increasing the sales of merchandise, PR objectives, acquiring new fans or improving their connection with existing fans. Another Tagline we had thought about using was ‘Social by Design’ – we won’t be going with it now but it may help further flesh out the business concept. An example of a band that we currently work with: Chapel Club (http://www.chapelclub.com) |

1 or 2 colours used at most. Don’t have a specific colour in mind. Happy to run with any ideas provided the use of colour makes the logo look clean, simple and readable. You may wish to experiment with using different colours or fonts for the two words. Would prefer the logo to displayed against a white background but again open all ideas. |

We would prefer SoundSocial to be represented as a clear and distinctive written text / font. We’re fairly relaxed with how it is represented and are open to several ideas and interpretations. If you are able to come up with a design that incorporates the idea of social media in some way and ‘the two way flow of communication between fans and artists’ then great we’d certainly be interested in seeing it, however we’re more concerned with the distinctive, clean arrangement of text rather than some overly complex idea. We’re not opposed to the use of a symbol or some form of abstract element so long as it fits in with the general theme and industries that we’re working in – we had thought of playing on the ‘sound’ element of SoundSocial by involving a music speaker as a symbol in the design but we’re a little hesitant to run with this as it’s a one way form of communication, rather than encouraging interaction through social media – which is what we’re about - and also we’re not just working in the music industry. The same applies to a musical note – we’re reluctant to use one in the design. However if you have a good idea that you think would work we’d love to see it. Try to also think of Sound in the sense of ‘a good job, complete, comprehensive and thorough’ rather than just in the musical sense. We’d rather not have some generic sphere or random shape attached to the design – not really our thing. One idea we’ve had is to somehow make use of symmetry shared between the words - both start with ‘So’ and both end with the long stemmed letters ‘d’ and ‘l’. They are also roughly the same length. Our preference for the arrangement of the logo is ordered below, although we’d be up for seeing anything that fits into the wider theme and looks good in your opinion. SoundSocial (no space between words, capital S used to start each word) Sound Social (space between words) Sound (stacked in some way) Social Current industry designs - companies that operate within our target market and who we would like to draw influence from in feel and look.... SoundCloud (http://soundcloud.com/) American Apparel (http://americanapparel.net/) RootMusic (http://www.rootmusic.com/) Billboard (http://www.billboard.com/#/) The Orchard (http://www.theorchard.com/ ) The logo will primarily be used on a Facebook page (profile picture) and on Business cards so it should look readable, clear and distinctive even when reduced in size. Optional to include the tagline in the overall design – we would prefer a stronger independent text / logo which could have the tagline added later as required in a plain font. Despite my rambling essay I can assure you all ideas are welcome and very much appreciated! Thanks, Oli |

Soundsocial___Pink_Ball___MOCK_UP_6295.png NEW BRIEF Please stick to this brief for all new entries… We have uploaded a mock of what we want all new entries to look like – PLEASE STICK as CLOSELY to this mock as possible – we like it a lot we just want a designer’s touch to make it look professional. ICON - We want the icon to be a hip, cool messy ball that resembles a ball of string, yarn or wool – this represents the many networks connecting a social network. A less busy centre area of the ball would be good too. Colour - We want this exact colour pink to be used please – to us this darker pink gives it a distinct feeling of being hip and savvy. No clipart – want a designer to create the tangled lines and it to be organic No shadows. No reflective effects. Icon keywords: Circular lines, Tangle, Abstract, Matting, Pink Ball, String, Wool, Clean Text – The text should be bold, clean and the font used should be fairly basic. It should be black. No shadows. No reflective effects. Solid colour black only. It should be laid out as it is in the mock with the ‘L’ shape black frame bordering the text. Each S should line up with each other and the d and the l should line up with each other as well. THANK YOU SO MUCH! |
