The project holder asked me to make specific revisions as well and I did, however I did not feel comfortable about them being so similar to others designs.
Also...There are many more cultures in this world than the 9 that are being copied here. :)
Just to be clear. Prpject holder requested to add ethnic element. It'c totally different coping the same hut with the same shape only with a different color. e.g. see wooman eirland hut shape or african hut (chinese hut is out of discussion).
what you all are talking about are similar elements being used in the designs. The artwork all together is different as you can SEE by the submissions. If a designer submits a design with a circle in it and another uses a circle in it, that is not considered a "copy cat." What you are saying is just because you used a dot on the forehead to symbolize Hindu culture means you are the owner/creator of it which is not true. Anyone who knows something about copyright would say exactly what I said--just felt I should clarify some confusion.
Just wanted to let you guys know that the project holder has requested that I include those elements in my design - had they not made the request, I wouldn't have included them as they appeared in previous designs.
I assume that this is probably the situation for MarenMay as well.
christina I totally quote your words. Aso if I risk to be eliminated from the contest I think that rules respect is basic for all designers coz without we risk to be in a copy cat jungle.
Selts ~ I agree...it's frustrating....my original design featured an Indian woman with the red dot on her head...a few designs later ~ someone else has it too...I stick a tongue out of one of my faces...next thing you know...someone else does too. I decided to follow in step with everyone elses copy cat game and give my design a Jewish man that wasn't originally there... the whole thing is maddening ~ besides that, it's against Mycroburst's terms.
We narrowed down the top designs more and ranked everyone left based our goals to help you focus. We do not intend to eliminate designers as everyone is welcome to continue to update their designs - until the end. We just want to be upfront with all what designs or elements are considered best at every moment to achieve optimal results.
We will do our best to be responsive as well to questions this last day.
We are very impressed. Here is advice for all that are still “live”:
•Can my design make all different types of people smile and even laugh ??
•Does my design also represent/relate to various top cultures/nations on the planet?
•Do each of my people have a unique personality/feel?
•Will my design related to both the young and the old?
•3 colors is ideal on this one. MarenMay your color scheme is right on.
How strict are you on the 3 color requirement? More colors might symbolize a "colorful world" idea, but it might be cost prohibitive if you're doing extensive printing and stuff. Just curious =)
Thanks!
Maren
#3 Daunzell a few comments:
* You certainly have captured a lot of what we are looking for with the look and goals.
* Please go with 9 total boxes/faces so we can achieve equal height vs. width.
* Not sure if these faces are unique enough from image provided.
* Because we are not sure exactly what color the background will be I would do without the black edges.
* Overall this has great potential - I will have to think about the hats/deviations and get back on those as well.
Vector: #2, #1 - Looking to incorporate the entire circle of the face - very much like the example I provided in which I love. Go for an original, modern, simple, version that incorporates the goals of the designs. The only guessing that may or may not occur is the origin of each person/face - not that they are a smiling face. Hope this helps.

Good luck to all involved.
