Draft #56 and variation by goldenohh are derivative if #53 by christinawiler, therefore have been taken down.

    Hello all,

As you can see, I extended the project. I just thought that I did not do a good enough job communicating what I was looking for. It occurs to me that I did not emphasize enough that this logo will be the face of our branding. I think the word missing from my communication was brand. So far design #6, and # 53 best represents what I am looking for. I will try providing my feedback to each of your personal contacts.

Dear CH; Are you going to extend the contest? if yes, then it would help if you would point out some examplles of logos that you would want them to aspire. With so few words in these briefs, it is important to get the verbage on point. Corporate Logo. Not event logo. Also, if you gaurentee the prize, you will get the attention of more (read-better)designers.

It has been a week, and I have seen many designs, but it is clear from the most recent entries that either I am being unclear as to what I am looking for, I am being clear but it is difficult for the designers to understand the concept, or people are just not reading the brief, or the comment I submitted on January 19th.

I hate to waste the time in energy of the talented designers who have worked hard so far, but speaking honestly there is no way my boss will pay for designs that are so far away from what we are looking for.

First, when we say skating, we are referring to "roller skating", not skateboarding, ice skating, or inline skating. I have seen several designs with graphics that clearly show no attention was made to what we are asking for.

Second, we are a professional organization. We are a "for profit" social venture. Or as one graphic designer wanted us to say, a corporation. The logo we are looking for is not for a t-shirt, not for one particular event, not for one program. It is something that will determine how a company will be branded to the world. Therefore, we take this logo very seriously. Font, design, and overall image should fit with the concept of our mission (please read).

Currently, I have not settled on one designed, even though some are stronger than others. It is my hope that the designers who are currently working on this project will go back, read the brief, read the post submitted on January 19th, and submit designs that are in line with what we are looking for. I would really like to compensate someone for there hard work, but the final decision is with my boss, who is a tough nut to crack, as he should be since brand imaging is so important.

    Good luck!

  • 22 janvier 2011 01:10 robin56

@robin56, if writing Corporate helps to communicate that we are looking for a professional looking design, than corporate it is.

Most of the designs submitted so far seems to be missing this concept. Also, we have nothing to do with skateboarding. I realize that roller skating is not as big outside of the US as it is in the US. Please remember we are a company that fall under the domain of roller skating.

Again, please think professional, or "Corporate" if that helps. The font style, color, and graphic should reflect this.

    Good luck!

Dear CH: As per our conversation, may I suggest you add the term "Corporate" to your directions to designers. That will save you getting designs that you do not want and give designers a better description of what you do want :)

Please be advised Skating For A Cause is a "for profit" social venture. Therefore, we are looking for a professional, clean logo that is appealing to many different professional circles in and out of the roller skating world.

In brief, we are a company that sponsors roller skating events to raise awareness and money for variety of causes from poverty reduction, to childhood obesity, to education. We will also be selling products that will do the same thing the events are designed to do. So far out of the one’s submitted #6 best captures what we are looking for. I hope this helps.

Please ask any questions that you think would help you in your creative endeavor. Good luck!
