Company vision: Vision: The curriculum is everywhere, all the time. When college and graduate students see the curriculum around them and think about it frequently throughout the day, they will be more apt to participate in it actively. Scholar everywhere makes the curriculum visible in our everyday world, to the benefit of students, employers, and society. We believe... 1. in magic. Students who encounter our products should regularly find themselves surprised and delighted by what they experience. 2. that knowledge is power. Students who gain more knowledge through the curriculum, about themselves, and about our world will flourish more as individuals and benefit society more as citizens. 3. that small changes drive big results. Increases in attention and time-on-task can add up to significantly more engagement and intrinsic reward for students over time, creating new habits and perspectives that generate major personal growth. 4. that universities are critical social institutions that should be celebrated and supported. Mission: Our current mission is to make learning in the curriculum more fun and more interesting for working adult students of higher education. When we are successful, students have a richer learning experience and are more likely to graduate as knowledgeable employees and citizens. Our tools are: • knowledge of the higher education industry and deep connections within it; • an understanding of what gets people's attention and drives intrinsic rewards; • smartphones, texting, location awareness, and social awareness. We are NOT: • building curriculum. Faculty own and develop the curriculum; we promote it to students in relevant ways throughout their busy days. Our commitment is to making students care more about what faculty have to teach. • interested in pushing the curriculum or engagement with the university in ways that become boring or annoying to students. See belief #1 above. |
