  the designs look great! We decided that we are looking for all capital letters, we like that look. also we aren't going to give any 5 stars until we are in the last few days so we don't discourage any designers. we will go through and give our 4 stars out in a few days when we have seen a good number of designs and decide from there which direction we want to go exactly.   i like the orange or red and grey color. Don't be afraid to use your imagination when designing this logo!! You all are the professionals, we have our ideas but we would like to see your ideas as well. I will try and respond to everyone's designs. Maybe even different colors along with the GREY (we like the grey with colors) maybe green or lime green and grey.

  make sure everyone stays away from having oil come out of the top of the derrick. In the industry oil out of the top is a "blowout" and is very bad, people die when this happens. Being a Safety Consulting firm we need to stay away from that in the design. Great ideas coming in though. thanks everyone for the participation.

  again #5 is a pumpjack, you might need to google Drilling Derrick to see what they look like. Good direction though.
  
  Also I will be adding the Veiled option here shortly, so everyone's designs will be kept private!!!!!!!!!

  those pump jacks would only limit us to a land based company, and the production platform on #3 would only limit us to water. Just a derrick was an idea (not a rig). Also i'm looking for something modern and simple, something that can be put on shirts for the company. Thanks for yalls designs!
