NOVEL General design concepts to consider: • Prefer artist w/ book COVER DESIGN EXPERIENCE, as there are certain nuances which entice readers pick a book off a shelf • BOOK SIZE: Octavo, 9”X6” • A MUSIC BOX plays a key role in the story between the hero and heroine • The main image guiding the heroine in her dream is a SHAFT OF LIGHT shining on a lake cabin deck. • The CABIN also is a main theme. The structure overlooks the lake has one door, two porthole-shaped windows, a large deck, and a creek running under the deck. • CONCEPTS I LIKE: – Most of the image in black & white and punching it up w/ one main element in color, but I’m not tied to this idea. It appeals to me because it’s representative of the flashback element in the story. – An image reflected in someone’s eye – Half of a face – A shaft of light shining through a door or window to illuminate a key element (perhaps the music box) COMPACT DISK (CD) General design concepts to consider: • Must be adapted from book cover design • Music files will be MP3 format, but may also be printed on physical CD, so need image that will fit in a CD jewel box, or can be printed on CD sleeve. (4.724 inches square, or 4.974 inches square for "bleeds.") |
