As you know I selected a winner... I just want to thank those of you that participated in this project. It was a hard decision as there were several designs I really liked. Some of you went the extra mile for me and I'm very appreciative of that. Once again, thanks for the effort and Good luck to all of you going forward.
Hello everyone... after thinking about it and looking at your drafts, I've decided that trying to integrate a separate element based on the the initials "RDP" isn't going to work, many of you have done a great job of doing so, but it's not working for me. I know I requested it and I'm sorry, just had to see if it could be done.
Most of the designs I've eliminated are because the fonts are a bit blocky or the graphical elements were either indiscernible to the laymen or appear to be used for the sake of using them. Very creative, which I like, so don't hesitate to try and integrate other graphical elements. Just think of the person that knows absolutely nothing about photography and how they would interpret the element being used.
I like the tripods and the reflective styling (mirror or glass reflection) that is being used in some of the drafts. The gradients in the text add a professional look and feel to the logo, which what I'm going for. The font is important to me... if a draft isn't eliminated, the font is close to what I like. I do a lot of sports photography, so fonts that are super stylish aren't what I'm looking for.
Also, I'm not sure if it's possible, but integrating canon's focusing screen could work, just the focusing points, they are typically red with the selected point a bit larger than the others (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2009_reviews/canon_5dmk2/canon_5dmk2_viewfinder.gif)
