Designs seem to be pouring in now so thanks for the revisions and new designs.
It would be great if designers could include examples of how the logo might look when reproduced in monochrome with their designs as we're looking for that with the winning logo.
The only other comment is that it would be good to see some development on some of the earlier designs which we gave 3 stars as we thought those had potential.
Thanks,
James

Really pleased with the number of contributions we're getting, thanks everybody… Some more quick bits of feedback on a few designs which will hopefully guide you all through our thought process.
* Remember the company is called Punnet rather than pun.net. This applies to a fair few here. #72 does a nice job of getting the name correct but still hinting at the URL- this is more like what we are thinking for the text.
* Like #81 a lot. It gives us a logo we could use without the text. Green not quite right, and not so sure about the typeface.
* #79 is a nice idea, although the concern is we don't have that separate logo we're after.
* #66 is a superb piece of design, really nice looking logo. We'd need to try and push this further in the fun/friendly direction mentioned in previous comments though. I'd worry a little about scaling down to 32px for a favicon, but haven't tried.
* The ideas in #63, #64 & #65 are all good, we're a bit worried that the fruit in each looks more like an apple than a strawberry though!
Some links were broken in my last comment (contacted support) - hopefully everyone can still see the designs I was referring to.
I've had some direct questions so will post some guidance based around what I've been asked and summarise what I've put in comments so far:
* The design can be text based (Punnet, pun.net) or just be a logo, if it is text based designs that can be broken up with elements that can be used on their own will have an advantage (eg, Facebook [F]).
* The ideal logo would scale from favicon to print on apparel, be usable in monochrome for etching on devices all the way to poster and high resolution web size.
* A punnet is a basket for holding fruit, the name was chosen because it links to the school the company has come from (whose logo is a strawberry). We would like to maintain the association but not too overtly, the company is already named in the theme after all. With this in mind the logo could use fruit, baskets, fields, straw hats (you get the idea) but this isn't a requirement!
* The brand should look professional without looking too corporate, tech without looking too web 2.0, friendly without looking gimmicky. From the initial logo idea mentioned in the brief it was suggested we should pitch ourselves more like Innocent smoothies (http://innocentdrinks.co.uk/things_we_make/) than Microsoft (or RedHat).
Any additional questions please feel free to contact me and I'll get back to you as soon as I see the message!
Thanks for the additional contributions like the simplicity of #48 and the simplified designs like #38.
#36 looks promising and like the clever integration of the shape into the word there.
However, I the majority of the designs so far seem to be focusing a little too much on the strawberry part of the brief. Could we have some designs that aren't quite so overly strawberries?
Additionally I'd like to see some designs where the URL is less prominent, the company is called 'Punnet' so it would be good to see designs featuring that OR I'd be quite happy with a design that doesn't require the name or URL to be present, example: #3#23#24#25#29#39

Like the simplicity / abstract nature and reproducibility of the symbol in #25.
Like the idea of fruit hanging off a tree/branch in #22 looks good.
Having the 'p' in relief in #3 works nicely but we're wondering if this could be made softer/friendlier (less corporate).
#13 and #26 are a little bit too far down the cartoonish/friendly route.
#10 #11 #12 could be improved my being simplified - we're thinking these will be difficult to print.

A punnet is a term used in Britain, Australia and New Zealand for a basket used for displaying and collecting fruits or flowers.
Additionally any designs that scale well and are easily reproducible for print will be favoured.

* A design where the logo can be used separately to the text would be great.
* The design could incorporate the name 'Punnet' rather than the URL.
Thanks!
