At Aberystwyth Students' Union we are in the planning stages of our annual May Ball, the biggest event we hold for students (¬3,000 on the day), comparable to a small festival! The theme for The May Ball is based around a "Festival on campus" similar to Beachbreak Live/ Boomtown Festival and will include; Live acts, ice rink, walk around performances, stalls, projection screens on scaffolding, 4 performers (STILL UNKNOWN), giant deck chairs, fun fair, burlesque, magicians, fire performance, headphone disco, fancy cocktails, chocolate fountain, inflatable rodeo….. The reason why I included an extensive list of things going on during the event is that I feel that most of them should be conveyed at least allegorically in the poster design – very much like www.boomtownfair.co.uk The design has to be summery, FUN, vibrant, modern, fresh, festivaly... Has to get people excited about the awesomeness of the event. Ideally the first design we need is to get the brand identity out and to include the fact that we are bringing the May Ball back to campus for the first time in 7 years (as opposed to an external venue). The deadline is VERY SHORT. Ideally we need finalised design Monday, 12th March.
