All,
We would like to thank each and everyone of you for the submissions. You guys really provided us with some great stuff. On the final day we have it narrowed down to 4 or 5 designs. All of the excellent work will make it very tough on us to reach a final decision. You are all very talented. Thanks again for the great work. You all were a pleasure to work with.

All, please take a look at the below link. We drew up a design that should provide some inspiration. We would like to see a few designs with this concept in mind.

Guys,
Lets try something other than some variation of the letter "P" because we aren't getting exactly what we're looking for. Don't be afraid to experiment with something off the wall or outside of the box. We just want an extremely unique and creative mark that rings true to the meaning of Petricore. Dig deep guys!

Hey Guys -
Thanks again for your participation. I think "celebrating the first rain" is the right concept for the logo.
Here are some ideas to kick around: stylized images of umbrellas, rain splashing, people dancing in the rain, Native Americans performing a "rain dance, acrobatic flying of swallows (birds) signaling the storm has passed and all is safe again."
The first soaking rain cleanses the earth, freshens the air and brings forth a lush, green growth. The colors blue and yellow depict post storm skies.
We welcome crazy ideas. Don't feel limited by simply using the letters for the symbol. Below are some links with pictures for inspiration:

Hi Everyone-
Just to be clear, as there seems to have been some confusion with the term "jewel" that was used, we are a company that makes stone building products (like bricks) that protect and beautify the interior and exterior of buildings. The jewel that I was referring to was not meant literally as a gemstone, but rather a brilliant and meaningful little symbol that makes a statement in harmony with the meaning of our company name.
Petricore is a play on the word “petrichor,” a distinctively pleasant smell emitted by rock during the first rain after a long dry spell. It signifies the refreshing effect our products and ideas have on a stale industry and was coined from the greek word “petros” -- meaning stone -- and “core” -- meaning the basic or most important part.
We have a strong tagline (The Essence of Stone) that supports our name, and the idea behind the design of the logo should, if possible, be elicited from the name as well.
Apologies for any miscommunication. We appreciate your participation and look forward to any new ideas.

Can we get some more icon designs? A unique jewel or mark that can either stand alone or be incorporated into the name. Drafts 1 and 7 were on the right track with this idea.

The colors chosen for draft 6 seem to achieve the modern look that we're looking for.

Through the first 6 drafts, number 1 is most like what we're looking for. Something unique and identifiable to us.

On second thought, we would like to see the tagline "The Essence of Stone" included in the designs. I think it will be easier to remove the tagline rather than trying to fit it in later.
