after opening voting up to clients and employees, we still couldn't decide so we're extending the contest and increasing the prize. here is some feedback we collected:
-the favorite designs highlight Long Research rather than the acronym LRC, although designs with a subtle LRC emblem also work well. Just an L in the emblem would work too. acronyms that look like IRC because of the placement of the L are a problem. separating Long and Research either by color, font, or on different lines helps keep it from sounding like research that will take a long time.
-designs that allude to polling are the most popular, however some of the designs that suggest political campaigns reminded people too much of candidate yard signs that are everywhere around election time, and some with red and blue in the circles reminded people too much of the Obama logo.
-some designs that incorporate research ideas that made people think of scientific or medical research, such as with the magnifying glass, were seen as confusing
-the favorite fonts are either somewhat traditional serifed fonts or light modern fonts
-we are not limited in the colors

neonlite: i like the idea of 42 and 43 but again my problem is that it looks too much like IRC the way the L is tucked behind the R. thanks!

drafts 19-21: i feel like all of these look a little like they say IRC instead of LRC, maybe its just the font but I think the L needs to be clearer since Long is the primary name our clients already know. thanks!

1881987: i like #10 but definitely the text name needs to have plural consultants (s is missing) and i think should also somewhere say LLC, even if it is small as in #s 1 and 2. thanks!!

while the old company logo i uploaded is very dry and bland (its 30 years old), i want to mention that the square symbol in the bottom line of text is a nice representation of one of our main deliverables. the idea of this square with the upward curve is to represent the way we show survey data trends like in a powerpoint chart. an upward swing like that simple illustration would be an ideal result for our clients - implying that data is going their way, opinions are positively shifting in their favor. if it were possible to work in that suggestion with of course not stealing from the other logo that would be great. thanks!

thanks for 6-8 putri, i think the acronym is clearer now.

thanks for your submissions neonlite, i like the way the text coloring distinguishes long from research and highlights what we do, but the overall look of the acronym is a bit 'high-performance automotive' or something to me. a little to sleek or angular or something. could you rework that part?
