Thanks everyone for your work and congratulations to NGL83 for winning this contest. I was very impressed with the quality of these designs; there were at least four that I would have been more than happy to use as my company logo.
These designs are really great. There are four that I am going to have trouble deciding between.
#18 - This design grabs my attention the fastest right now. Is there any way to emphasize that the company name is "OMG Brews" without detracting from the overall appeal of this graphic? Right now I imagine that someone seeing this logo might try to visit omg.com instead of omgbrews.com if they were looking for our web page.
#21 - This design feels the most ovearll like a games company logo to me. The 3d effect behind the OMG is much better than the jiggling crescents from #16. I do not think the foaming mug of beer graphic is necessary.
#20 & #29 - Both of these designs are excellent and have everything that I have asked for. The "OMG Brews" part is well separated from the "games" component, the monochrome stenciled version looks good and the "OMG" pops out and feels like an exclamation.
#15 - I think that this three-rings design has done an excellent job of simplifying the earlier graphics while keeping the feel of wide-open eyes. I would like to see the "OMG" and "BREWS" become one graphic unit and have the "GAMES"/"BEER" part separate. Perhaps a larger "BREWS", with the "GAMES"/"BEER" look like it's been stamped on afterwards.
#14 and #16 - These are both much closer to what I am looking for than your earlier submissions. I much prefer #16, as the graphical style feels more modern to me. The crescents over the "O" and the "G" give the impression of bouncing or jiggling, which does not feel quite right to me. Are they necessary or is there a another embellishment that can replace them?
- the texture and orange colour in the OMG! draws the eye and makes it pop out
- the tilted "M" (like in #3) adds excitement along with the exclamation mark
- the light text on dark background ties the "OMG" and "brews" together while leaving the "GAMES" or "BEER" distinct
I am not sure that "brews" is in the right font. It looks like something that would be written on a surfboard or snowboard rather than on a video game.
Having "GAMES" or "BEER" touch the bottom of the "brews" background is an interesting idea, but I think it makes the word harder to read than it should be. Maybe it would be better to have the "GAMES" or "BEER" text lower and disconnected from the rest of the graphic.
The concept of the eyes-open-wide in #4 is really good, but I think that the added hair and smile in #10 makes the face idea too explicit and gives the design too much of a cartoonish young-child feel.
Several people I've shown this design to tell me that it reminds them very much of Mickey Mouse, and I'm inclined to agree:
I definitely prefer the concept of "OMG Brews" and "Games" being on separate lines or somehow visually distinctive from each other as in #7 and #11. The company name is "OMG Brews" and the website will be at omgbrews.com. I don't want people to get the impression that the name is just "OMG".
#1 The simplicity makes this design easy to read, but I would prefer if it better reflected the image the company is trying to project -- see the brief. For example, a small change like the following makes the logo shout OMG:
#3 is too cartoonish for what I am looking for. I am targeting ages closer to 20-35. The elements don't seem to work together well.
#4 is interesting. I like the orange-yellow colour gradient that implies beer without drawing it explicitly. I like the popping-open eyes concept of the "O" and "G" circles. It's great to see the stenciled version and alternate wording. My main problem with this version is that it looks too much like a frog.
#5 The "OMG" reads like "OVG" to me here. The font in the OMG doesn't give me the impression of exclamation that I am hoping for. I do like how it is easy to imagine replacing "games" with the alternate "beer" text in this design.

Perhaps it would look better with more of a flattened top and with the "brews" and "games" separated somehow.

I am also not hugely enamored with the choice of font.
