I agree with you JoeGood, about the feedback and personal messaging. I also don't know the entirety of what was said in the messages between you and raindesign, therefore I will retract my previous statement. But rules are rules and I can only hope that everybody is playing fair.

Also, don't blame anything on yourself, you gave a much better brief than a lot of the other project holders out there!

Ansab, I think it is a good design. Granted, I am not a designer and not schooled in any fundamentals but when I started this specific project, it is closest to the ideas in my head.

Considering that I did not know exactly what I wanted, I did not think it fair to keep extending this project out until I found the perfect design. Instead, I wanted to end this contest and I will start another, using my favorites from this one as starting points. The designers do not make money from the contest extensions so it did not seem fair.

Why not ask for feedback? If my brief was poor (as it was, even the MB admins got onto me) then I think it is within the designers rights to ask me questions to find out my intentions.

I would much rather have a designer take the initiative and try to coax out of me what I want then to flounder about.

Also, raindesign was very thoughtful of the community. More than once it was suggested to me that I not stick to private messages and instead give feedback out to the other designers by eliminating, rating, and adding comments.

"Raindesign got a lot more feedback because they used the personal messages and asked for feedback."

Rule #1. "Please do not ask Project holder to look at your designs. "

    Hello Joe.

It was really kind and humble of you to say that. Don't feel bad about all that was said here. I guess it happens. Every field has competition, and there r times when the competition gets rough and contenders have disagreements but I guess it's fine if it is taken sportively to pep up the contest and not to create hatred. Great champions in all levels of sport and contests have had arguments and disagreements with fellow contenders. Designers shouldn't forget one thing, at MB we are a family, we may argue but at the end of the day we are one. It's a different thing when we argue between ourselves and a totally different thing when someone else points fingers at us.

All the best guys. God bless.

    Cheers!

Please, I do not want any designers getting angry with other designers. If anything, get mad at me. This was my first project here and I was horrible with my brief and horrible with the feedback and really cheap with the cost.

Raindesign got a lot more feedback because they used the personal messages and asked for feedback. Again, this was because I was not forthcoming with what was expected and it had to be pulled from me.

I hope nobody took it personally when the silhouette was changed on Raindesign's work. That silhouette was something I provided in my brief.

Maybe there is a code between designers but I wouldn't think it would be stealing if it was mine and I asked for the change.

Thanks TerryM - This is the answer to my great designer friend 'finaldesign'

  • 15 juin 2010 08:22 TerryM

I am a former Project Holder. My name is TerryM. My comments here have nothing to do with the actual designs themselves, but the sniping between some designers. In particular finaldesign attempting to take down Raindesign. It is no coincidence that finaldesign is in overall first place for the number of designs won. It's one thing when there is healthy competition between professionals and people admire each other's work. But when people become jealous (the negative side of envy), that is very unhealthy. Envy is based on mentally healthy admiration of someone else's work. Jealousy is rooted in deep emotional insecurity. And it obvious that (some of) these other designers see each other as a threat. And thus, will do everything they can to take each other down.

Up to a point, it is like school children making up lies and telling the teacher about something (false) about what one of the most popular kids in class has done. If many of these other jealous designers would spend more time re-channeling their negative energy toward being imaginative in their designs rather than taking each other down, they would start winning, or win more than they already have been winning. Anyway, just some thoughts. TerryM

Just a note to the CH - have you noticed the child in the silhouette you prefer appears to be naked?? i.e. #74 Maybe it's just my eyes but if you look at the design of the man(plus the people in all the other images you provided) you will notice clear evidence of clothes but no such thing on this particular child, perhaps why his hands are thrown in the air, free as a bird!

So maybe some pants can be added to this little guy...and maybe also remove whatever the man is holding, what is it? Kind of a distracting element. Anyways, great work guys!

The image used by raindesign looks the same as what neilmc has used. I hope you are not taken for a ride neilmc. Nice cover up raindesign.

    Good luck.

Raindesign wanted me to notify the rest of the design community that the switch of silhouettes was my idea. I asked him to do that. The image was one that I provided.

Is it possible to make a marriage of #38 with the caps from #37 and the yellow subtext from #36?

I also submitted the following to the admins to add to my brief.

I am liking the idea of the adult/child interaction focusing on the holding of hands. I am really wanting to see a silhouette of an adult holding a child's hand while walking. The child looks as though they are jumping or running or swinging with one arm out and the other holding hands with the adult. I want the child to be as young as possible yet still walk. The target for this project is to say the things to your child when they are too young to understand.
