ok, many are combining two very different pieces of equipment, like in #137. It has a drilling rig tower with a pump unit beam on top...we do not really like this concept. Try to use one or the other...or both, but don't combine them.
Don't worry, we are well aware of who is developing what concepts. Remember we are want a fresh twist on our original logo that has been with us for over 65 years....this is the reason concepts like #137 are scoring so high. We want to retain some elements of our past and belnd with the new. We can also tell who has taken the time to read our website and incorporated design elements reflecting our history. This is what we are looking for.
Ok I am back in town now but I am working on 4hrs sleep so I will get more detailed feedback up tomorrow when I can think clearly. One quick note I will make is we don't know if we like anything round in the design at this point. We like what we see, but just don't know if we like that aspect. We would like to see some variations without the "rays" effect coming off the M or cirlces, etc.
Draft #66: We do not like the two hanging things off the sides of the rig and would prefer just a single rig. The chrome look within the M with the half black circle doesn't look right. We like the color scheme of the outer drop in #63 better than this one with the strip in the center. You need to redo the color schemes in the text and the M. Thanks!
Draft #63 and #64: We think these designs are very interesting. They seem to be a little too busy and it is hard to read the text. Maybe loosing the half circles in the design and some simplifying to get a better feel on how to proceed?
Yes we feel 41 and 43 show strength and tradition. It also has great realistic look with that twinkle. It is a nice blend of modern and traditional. I dont know if I like how much it is tilted back, but it is their first draft and I havent seen an alternative yet.
What i was trying to convey was that your draft was getting closer to what we want by incorporating the text into the grapic itself. The mass off the M didnt bother me, it just seemed stretched upwards. So with the rig on top it seemed to tall. Look at many of the designs we are ranking higher to get a feel for the style of M's and colors we are liking. We have been asking repeatedly for people to make solid attempts at revamping our old logo, and you were the first solid attempt. It wasnt right, but it was moving in the right direction. We are not opposed to a similiar design to our original as it has been in our family for over 65 years and we are proud of it. A fresh new twist on it maybe just what we are looking for. We appreciate all the hard work on everyone's part and we can only imagine the frustration in a competitive environment like this one. Thanks again everyone!
Draft #62: While this one is not right...THANK YOU for attempting a revamp of our old logo. This one and #52 are the first efforts we have seen to this request. It is to tall and M is too simple, it doesnt convey expensive and strength to us.
Draft #50: We really like the colors presented here, especially in the white version. We also love the illuminated effect on the red version. This is not what we had in mind for a logo, but we keep coming back to it for stationary use perhaps. Maybe try using a pump or oil derrick like many of the other designs in place of the oil drop.
#34 and #35: We don't really like the Circle around the M....what if it was a drop? Representing a drop of oil. I like the 3D look you have achieved with black circle, however I think there is too much gray haze in the bottom right of it. Your Rig and Pump are GREAT! We still like to see a design with all the text inlcuded into the logo instead of off to the side as well. Maybe in the bottom of the oil drop? Not sure if that would work or not.
We are still waiting to see a simple, modernized redo of our existing logo as well.
Draft #32: LOL! While I like some concepts here, oil splattered on the ground is a very bad thing in our business as one could imagine. Sticking with this theme, perhaps oil moving through a pipe or something.
Wow, some nice stuff when I woke up this morning. Nice Work All!
OK, while I like aspects of everything I have not eliminated, I will point out things I like the best in some of the 2 star designs.
Draft #20: I like the color, shading, and use of the rig drilling down into the M. However, the rig design needs a little work.
Draft #16: I like how the design tries include our name into the graphic by wrapping around it slightly.
Draft #8: This design has a great rig design and I love how it is placed in the M. I do not like the circle and slanted appearance. We are after more of square, bocky look.
Again, I would love to see the use of the M as the backdrop/container with the rig, our company name, and tag line within the M. We are loving the up-to-date use of font and shading. Lets try to blend the old with the new in some drafts. Thanks all, we are having a blast with this, and you all are working hard. We appreciate it!
Draft #7: I like the colors better in this one compared to #6, but you are getting further away from our traditional "Rig in the M"...this is a key design element. Thank you for your efforts, and I see potential in you designs. We just need to aim them toward who we are....www.murvinoil.com.
Also, there is a lot of history(over 65years and 3 generations), tradition, and success behind our current logo. So do not be afraid to take what's already there and make it new and fresh! We want to see all options from completely new to a great updated version of our current logo.
Draft #6 is getting closer to "3D look" we are after, but it needs to get back our Oil Theme with the rig and tag lines in the M.
Food for thought for those who dont know much about drilling rigs....these rigs (like the one I attached in the brief section) drill a small whole thousands of feet down into the ground looking for pools of oil trapped in the rocks. We raise large sums of money from private investors to drill and produce these finite natural resources because it is a very expensive and risky process to undertake.
Drafts #1-#4: Thanks for the quick response! We are looking for a more Realistic, 3D look. Our company focuses more on oil production than gas, so we prefer 1 + 2 as opposed to 3 + 4. We also would like to include text in the logo, but are not firm on this point if something really catches our attention. Keep the ideas coming!
