Background The Powder Room is a new bar we are opening in Queenstown, New Zealand. It is a small bar, with a max capacity of 53 persons. A photo is attached of how the bar currently looks. Queenstown is in the South Island of New Zealand, and is known as the ‘adventure capital of the world’. It is nestled at the foot of five world class mountains (hence the “Powder” reference to fresh snow) and beside Lake Wakatipu. These natural elements combine to bring tourists to the town year-round, who are seeking fun in the outdoors as well as parties at night. Queenstown is known for its nightlife and attracts large numbers of young travellers looking to party year round. The target market for The Powder Room will be: • 22 – 35 years of age. • Tourists and locals. • Middle-priced spenders: Not paying top-dollar for drinks but nor are they looking for the cheapest deals they can find. • Social group: Straddling the divide between the ‘commercial’ demographic and the ‘underground/alternative’ demographic. • Music: Customers will be looking for a respite from the “Top40” music which dominates the Queenstown bar scene. While still playing some popular music that people will recognize, care will be taken not to be thought of as a ‘cheesy Top40’ bar. It will also be important to not go too far towards the other end of the spectrum and become too underground. A happy medium must be struck. House music, Hip-Hop, Funk and Drum & Bass will all be a part of the musical menu, and will fall into line with the playful and fun nature set by the décor, staff, events and marketing activity of the bar. All elements must be in unison. The bar will be fun and bright, with engaging features. Artwork will be incorporated in the theme of the bar with a focus on Queenstown nature and scenery in a fun and playful style. Logo: The Powder Room is looking for a logo which reflects all of the above. We would prefer a logo which is dominated by text, but which incorporates a graphic too. |
