Our full official name is “Collegiate United Methodist Church/Wesley Foundation”. However, you also may design the logo using any of the following or combination thereof: • Collegiate/Wesley: A United Methodist Church and Student Center • Collegiate/Wesley: United Methodist Church / Student Center • C/W: Collegiate United Methodist Church/Wesley Foundation • CUMC/WF • C/W Ames. Collegiate/Wesley is a diverse, theologically-progressive, nationally-recognized congregation and ministry center for college students in Ames, Iowa. We are two joined institutions: Collegiate United Methodist Church, and Wesley Foundation – everything is shared, which is why both names need to be in the logo. There are 5 distinguishing characteristics to our identity: 1) We are progressive – i.e. we take the Bible seriously but not literally. 2) We are inclusive – we welcome and affirm all persons without regard to gender, ethnic background, sexual orientation, national origin, age, physical or mental ability, marital status, economic condition, or anything else which threatens to divide God's family. 3) We are missional – social justice and service to others is a major part of our outreach to others. 4) We are campus ministry focused – much of our congregation is comprised of faculty, staff, and students from Iowa State University, and campus ministry drives a large portion of our programming. 5) We are United Methodist – We are proud of our denominational connection, and we have been nationally-recognized for our unique and vital ministry. This is our 100th year. Our website, http://www.cwames.org, will soon be completely redone once this logo is created. |

• The United Methodist Cross & Flame should not be used. • Somehow, the sense that we are connected organizations (Collegiate & Wesley) should be evident. • The logo will often be used in greyscale printing, so it must look OK when printed in black/white. • There is another Collegiate Church in our town (Collegiate Presbyterian Church), so our logo must be distinct from theirs.
