    To All Designers,

Thank you all for submitting your designs. It ended up being a hard choice for us to make, but we very much appreciated everyone's efforts in showing us how we could potentially communicate our message through your design/logo.

    Thank You,

    Thai Topaz

    More clarification:

    1) Symbol - Help us come up with a symbol that represents/personifies one of the following elements: Healthy, Food, or Thai-influenced. We're open to variations in design, but the symbol has to be recognizable (e.g. a car should look like a car)

    2) Font - when submitting, please read the previous comment on our concern for creating a storefront sign. Also, please submit THICKER fonts for different views. We'd like to see two variations: 1) ALL CAPS (e.g. THAI TOPAZ) and 2) normal (Thai Topaz).

If anyone needs more clarification, please don't hesitate to send us an email.

We're seeing different elements from different designers that we like and we now realize how difficult it is communicating via comments/messages. Additional comments to hopefully narrow things down:

One of the things we're focusing on is signage. At our next location, we might have some restrictions, so we want to make sure that it's visible and clear during the day and night (whether it's lights in the letters or a backlit signage). I might not have been clear in my last comment, but would like to see the following, at least:

    a) ALL white letters on a dark background.

    b) ALL any color letters on a white background.

    c) ALL capital letters AND only the T's capitalized in "Thai Topaz", like what most everyone is doing, to see how the different style fonts will look like on a sign.

Tip: Didn't want to influence designers, but look at www.sushizushi.com for the following concepts that we like:

    a) One can't miss their sign, as their ACTUAL sign (don't have a picture to upload) reads horizontally like "SUSHI THEIR_CIRCULAR_SYMBOL ZUSHI" with the word "SUSHI" in black letters on a white background, and the word "ZUSHI" in white letters on a black background. On their website, the words are actually stacked on top of each other, not like their sign, but you can imagine the visual, contrasting effect it has. The point is that their signage is clear, and, in our opinion very eye-catching for people passing by, yet it's simple.

    b) Instead of their circular symbol, which we're not too sure what it symbolizes, many designers are trying to portray/incorporate the "Health" or "Thai" influence with different symbols (e.g. leaf, plant, etc.), which is what we're looking for. So, most are on the right track.

Note: I know that some designers have added other elements to their designs, which is still fine as we can still use them for our print materials or website. We might have to just strip out the words "Thai Topaz", plus maybe a small symbol for the signage to make sure that they can be easy to read, visible, and eye-catching. So, what everyone has already done is good as it's more for our printing materials.

For the designers getting 3 STARS, you seem to have the right ideas/elements and are on the right track. Hope the reference and this explanation makes things clearer. Please don't hesitate to write if you have additional questions/comments.

All visible/remaining designs have most, if not all, of the elements (i.e. Healthy, Modern/Cutting-Edge/Simple-Clean/Fine-Dining, Thai/Asian-Influence)and heading in the right direction. Some designs have cleaner fonts, while others have more modern or edgy fonts, which is totally fine as we want to see both spectrum and are not leaning one way or the other yet.

In terms of the "healthy" element, we see variations of a leaf, which we like, and feel that it's a good start (as we also thought about this before the launch), BUT would like to see different ways "healthy" can be projected (e.g. may be a different leaf, herb, fruit, or different way to project healthy altogether).

Something that might give inspiration as we were pleasantly surprised about some of the Thai elements #2 tried to incorporate into the design.

And, thank you all for submitting designs on a white and different background color(s) for better visualization.

    Star Rating Explanation:

1 - Not in right direction.

2 - Has some elements (i.e. Healthy, Modern/Cutting-Edge/Simple-Clean/Fine-Dining, Thai/Asian-Influence). There are specific element(s) that we like, but would like to see new design (will send message to clarify or feel free to send us message anytime).

3 - Has most/all elements BUT "not quite feeling" the overall design and/or look-and-feel. In right direction.

4 - Has all elements AND "liking" overall design and/or look-and-feel. Needs tweaking.

5 - Has all elements AND "loving" overall design and/or look-and-feel. May need some tweaking.

Going forward, please submit designs that are on: 1) white background and 2) different color backgrounds that you see fit. Some have submitted designs with 2,3, or 4 different, background-color combinations, which makes it easier to visualize. Also, will try to post a STAR rating explanation/list and rate designs later today.

First off, thank you all who have participated so far. I will try to check the message board as much as possible to answer any questions and provide feedback.
Currently, we're using Wordpress for our website, and there might be some limitations in that we have to choose a background color (i.e. currently green), and a tab color (i.e. currently red). We will likely keep the body white with black text as you currently see it, but are willing to change to the background and tab colors.
Thus, we'd like to see designs with a background color, in addition to being on a white background (as others are doing), so that we can visualize it being on our website and other marketing materials, similar to what #1 did with the background color in mind.

The website's colour scheme can be changed to match the logo. Open to different colour combinations.

Should the logo colours be designed to fit in with the website colour scheme of red/green/beige? ....or can the website be changed to match the logo...?
