Please steer away from the "male mark" unless you can really cleverly hide it in the logo (as in cleverly as the arrow on the FedEx logo). Also the cowboys and cowboy hats: If you can hide it well enough and very cleverly within the logo, feel free to use it, otherwise steer clear of that one too.
And then a few things: No cigars or smoking, nothing too specific (as in this isn't a place only for the cowboys, early 1900's gentlemen, pirates or anytning like that.
Again, you can imply but please don't be too obvious.
Please be advised: If you try the "slogan" with the logo, it's "Kansalaistalo Miehille", not the English equivalent "Civic House for Men".
Also, please show us some logos as well, not only logotypes.
Remember the keywords: Men, Openness, Low-Threshold.
We have been playing with some ideas that have involved saloons, sepia, industrialisation and some wear & tear.
#34 There is something that we like about the dude in the middle. Not a fan of the speak-bubble and the text is both physically and stylistically too far from the logo.
#37#38 A bit too illegible perhaps. I read it as "MUTTILA" The latter is better of these two, though.
#39 Too Middle-Eastern #40 Too simple and boring #41 Too fancy (as in feminine). #43#44#46#47 Nope #48 Basically ok. At a glance it reads MATILA, though. #51 and #52 These are ok as well. Liking the house but not a fan of the male symbol. Too obvious. In general I like negative space stuff, but it has to be clever. :) #54 YEAH! A huge sperm is just what we were looking for. :D Oh, and "Matilla"? #55 I like the basic idea behind this one. The logo could be more "in unison" with the text though. Now they seem too separate. Oh, and at first sight this looked like some man-spider (with the letters being the legs) :) #56 and #57 are kinda cool and the basic idea is nice. Meybe they're a bit too easy though?
#16 Yeah, that is an arse. :D #17 What the hell? #18 Still nope. Try something completely different. #19 A bit too Slayer to our liking. :) #20 Nice effort, but we are not an Greek night club... #21 That could work if Mattila only operated on the Internets. #22, #23 and #25 not liking the lower case with this font anyway. It looks a bit like "matila". Also, what's the message? #24 Go and read the brief once again. Also: Matilla? #26 and #27 There's nothing there. Where's the message? The edge? The mad designing skillz? #28 and #29 That would be awesome logo for an hostel. Not for us though. Also the gradient on the latter one? Bleurgh! #30 The basic idea behind this is fine (as in it has a message) but the implementation is horrible. Also, we do lots more in Mattila than just sit and drink coffee holding our cups weirdly. #31 Way too specific. Also the cavedude looks like a bit clipartsy. #32 I kinda like that platey thing but that's it. Choice of font is not good and what's with the dancing guys? :o #33 I like the basic idea here, but the overall look is a little bit on the "light side". A bit too spacey and the font is bad. Also, if there will be a male symbol in our logo, it should be less obvious and cleverly hidden.
#1#2#4#5#6#7#8#10#12#14#15 Are awful. Sorry guys. :/ #3 looks like a bio-petrol logo. #9 there might be something there. The basic idea is good but lacks that "man energy" and for now is more suitable for old people's home logo. #11 has at least tried with the suit and everything, but it is a bit unprofessional and boring. The font could be perfect for some car logo though. :)Also, we are not a gentlemen's club per se. #13 has some raw simplicity in it that I like. It needs something "more" though. Our logo doesn't need to be fancy, but it should have some of those qualities listed in the brief.

Yeah... Forgot to mention that you're free to try the logo with a slogan as well: "kansalaistalo miehille" which roughly translates to Civil House for Men.
