Announcement: Project Holder has not selected a contest winner within 15 days, therefore

MycroBurst will announce the winner and award prize according to "MB Contest Policy".

We are proud to announce "rayene" for his draft #47 as the winner of this contest.
All of the designs submitted were good, and it was hard to pick the winner/s.

Good Luck in your next contest!

This is on behalf of my colleague who is on the team of our logo project:
    #38:
I like that this design includes a font that resembles the JHU logo and the less literal evoking of the Chinese flag. Perhaps we could move a bit further away from national symbols in the central piece--is there a way to evoke progress and science (and movement--I like the trails on the stars) without the five stars of the flag? Still, it’s more subtle than the other designs and may be usable—I like the dynamism of the trails on the stars and it took me a minute to think of the flag association. One other problem: my husband thinks it looks way too much like the Obama '08 logo and that that's why I like it! Is there a way to solve this problem (we don't want brand confusion or to alienate Republican students!!)?
On the other hand, I like that the color combination also blends symbolic colors suggesting China-America-JHU. This is the best design so far, I think. I especially like the outer circle--can we do more with the inner circle? These comments apply also to #s 27 and 28—there are several versions of this theme among the drafts. I definitely like the outer circle for these three (27, 28, 38) the best. But I think the artist hasn’t quite perfected the inner circle. I like the placement of the flying stars better on 27 and 28 (compared to 38 where I think the stars are flying a bit too low and thus do not suggest the flight of progress and science). What about using the calligraphy as in #38 as background with the stars placed as in 27 and 28? Or is there another way of combining the pieces so it looks less like Obama '08?
#33 This one is also good—but I think I’d like it better if it used a font that evoked the JHU logo.
None of the other designs worked for me—they were either too nationalistic or too weird looking.

Thank you for new additions Rayene and Finaldesign.
    1. Can we have China and STEM together and not separate?
    2. Can we have Chinese characters (霍普金斯 or 科工医)instead of the snow flakes lining the outer space?
    3. I may not have expressed myself well when I said calligraphy. I would like to have the characters I uploaded be used as the background, not the characters in the drawing. Is it too difficult to make it happen? I would like the characters to be placed in different spots in the background, not in a line.
    4. Could we have a couple more colors added to the JHU blue? Not red and gold, not something too close to a known symbol (national flag or presidential campaign). We need fresh (something unique for our identity), pleasant and smooth colors. Will one of these three colors - green, grey or beige-work?
    Thank you!

Thank you to the new additions. They are promising. I would like to see the calligraphy characters in the background. Not the print characters. You can arrange the characters for visual effect rather than to the order or the meaning. Put Johns Hopkins on top seems better than just Hopkins.

I have just uploaded a drawing representing some ideas we have. My colleagues and I like the design that use the font and color that appear in JHU materials. I am open to having three characters (initials of Chinese translation of STEM) or six characters (full translation of STEM) as the background. Because I am working from China, the time difference may prevent me from getting back to you right away. I will check my project on the weekend as well.

I have just uploaded the calligraphy for the Chinese characters. The two-character images are full names and the one-character images are for initials. I would like these characters to be in the background and am curious to see whether the full name (the 3 two-character images) or the initials (the 3 one-character images) have a better effect. Thank you.
