After much discussion and long deliberation, we've have selected draft #95 by lakshmiks as the winner.
We had an extremely hard time choosing but felt that the "scission" made by the line in the middle of the logo was a great concept and addition.
A special thanks to Octopus, anoise and CreativeTemp, who put a lot of effort and hard work into some great logos. We loved (and still do) their drafts and discussed using them for days.
Thanks again guys. The quality of work we've seen has far exceeded our expectations and we look forward to seeing even more great work for our business card designs soon.
Thankyou to all the designers for submitting drafts. We've seen some really exceptional work here and some terrific ideas.
We will be sitting down to pick a winner from the five star designs over the next few days. It's not going to be easy as each of us like different designs and they're all fantastic in my opinion.
#61 this is looking really good. Can you try and close up the gap in the "c" a bit so that it looks a little more like an "o" (but still legible as a "c", of course....). I feel the dots on the "i"s could still be improved slightly too. Can we try something else sharp but still subtle.
#60#65#50 these are great. If it's possible, can we see both middle "S"s in negative space as in #53?
All designers - we'd also like to see some more interpretations of our name added into the logos where possible - Scission is a divide or cut, or the act of dividing or cutting (but once again,. please no scissors...)
We're loving the work that's been submitted thus far. It's certainly going to be hard to select a winner. Keep up the good work!
Some really good drafts coming in now guys. I'm going to have to get some feedback from my colleagues on these as I have very little criticism at this point. I'll then give some more detailed feedback and adjust the ratings accordingly.
#56 can you please horizontally flip the dot on the first "i" so that it mirrors the second.
#54 and #53 - Great drafts. It's hard to say which is preferable over the other at this point. I do feel that the the "media" in both examples could be a little better.
I feel that the "media" in #53 is a little too tall and I'm not sure if the exclusion of the middle of the "A" works that well.
In #54, I feel there could be more space in the tracking between the letters of "media". I think there also may be a better font that can be used.
Okay, I feel we're really strating to get on the right track with some of these. Great work!
#42 and #38 are excellent. My only criticism would be that they perhaps are a little too similar to the example I provided. Is there another small element or change that can be made to set them apart a little?
#39 has the potential to be the best but it's not quite there yet. The "S" at the start needs to match the other letters in terms of font and maybe also size, and there's something not quite right about the "C".
lakshmiks: can you please remove the "play button" symbols from between "media" in subsequent drafts. I fell either plain dots between every letter or nothing at all would work better.
#19 is fantastic, particularly in white on black - I love the use of negative space in this. However we'd like less emphasis on the "media" portion of our name (and S and M together makes me think of leather and gimp masks...).
If that style could instead be applied to the whole of the word "Scission", we'd love to see it.
#17 is definitely a better use of the split in the word than previous examples. I like the way the "I"s look lower case when separated. The font makes it look a little too futuristic for my liking though.
#14 - we'd also like to see if that logo can could be incorporated into the word "Scission". Perhaps used as both the letters "C" and "O" somehow?
We'd still like to see more examples with unique and creative typeface. Ideas we have previously discussed include - a play on the symmetry of the "cissio" portion of our name (which could also have the second "S" backwards or both joined together), or the style of a dictionary entry with "media" written as the pronounciation eg. /me·di·a/
Some good concepts so far. In terms of fonts, #14 and #9 look good.
The split in the typeface in #4 and #12 is a good concept, though I think the "split" could be more prominent as the current examples may look as though a white line is running through the letters.
#5 is a good draft. Can we see this one without the "clapper" on top of the logo and with a different font?
Overall, we'd still like to see something a little edgier and a little less corporate. We would like our logo to convey our professionalism, though we're also a group of young creative guys and would like the logo to reflect this to a degree.
Thanks to the designers for their good work so far. We're looking for something a little edgier than the current drafts and with less emphasis on abstract elements and more creative use of typeface. We'd also prefer inspiration to come from our name ("Scission" is a divide or cut, or the act of dividing or cutting something) rather than elements of film or video. Keep up the good work!

In any case, some fantastic work there

Can all designers submitting monochromatic logos please do the same from now on.
Thanks

We are looking more towards a minimalist type-based logo such as the following example:

If abstract elements are used, can they please be incorporated INTO the text rather than above or to the side of it.
