#165: It doesn't look natural. The purpose is to have the letter divide the space. Also, the letters are too square. The space division should be curved.

    To everyone:

Thanks for participating in the project.

I recently uploaded two concepts that I created that I would like to take further. It would be that same concept, but better. But please don't take my logo and add to it. It's just a concept that can be redisigned so it looks much better.

The name of the files are "New logo concept 2" and "New logo concept 2".

I also posted some comments regarding this new concept. They were posted previously. Please read so you get an idea of my concerns for this concept.

    Thanks.

I uploaded a new concept to my logo. This is only a concept, but I think it has potential.

Obviously, the font and size need to change, and the colors need to be more uniform (the vibrant blue doesn't go with the darker green).

Also, there has to be some way so that the letters that mix with the white background ('S', 'L', 'H') do not confuse the viewer.

CreativeAlys: I'm not sure what you're trying to convey with the balls and the splatter in the background. I don't see the relationship to a classifieds site.

I eliminated #103 because the colors are way too dark, the letters are too thick. Basically, you just changed the colors of your previous draft.

I posted a doc that highlights some logos and fonts that I really liked. They all have some common concepts that could be implemented on the logo.

Also, please do not use the tagline on the logo.

I like the general concept used in #60, #54, and #44 of the bigger tag for the name and the smaller tag for the ".com". But I don't like the font or the colors in any of them.

I also like the general concept of the price tags/containers used in #76, #63, #56, #41. In the doc I just posted (logo_inspiration.doc) I describe some ideas that can be used in conjunction with this concept. The tag needs to have a little more detail... it can't be a color square wit a letter. I really like the detail of the price tag in #41, but the site doesn’t only deal with buying and selling. One can find a job, look for resumes, search for a service they may need (plumbing, cleaning, taking classes, etc..). A price tag just means you can buy and sell goods.

I like #58... it's clean. It'd be great if you can somehow implement the ideas in the doc I posted. Also, the text should be a little stronger.

#35, #36: I still like the concept of the tag, but the black is way too strong.
Also, the font is too wide.

#32, #31: I like the design, but the font is a little too futuristic. I prefer a more rounded font. I also prefer a font whose “a” does not look like the letter “o” with a vertical line to the right. I also don’t like the “y”.
Other ideas that I tried implementing when creating my logo, but didn’t have the tools/skills to do it correctly: maybe play around a little more with some of the letters (ie. using the “y” bottom line, using the “S”, joining the “Lo”). Those are some elements that I tried adding and play with, but just couldn’t do it.
You can also use other colors if you want. I recently found this Apple logo that has a bunch of crisp and vivid colors: http://images.apple.com/home/images/ipod_touch_20100901.jpg

#42: I like that idea of the price tags, but I find the colored text hard to read with a colored background. In other words, I can’t read color on color very well unless I enlarge the image. I’m also not too crazy about the gradient.

Would it be possible to use a price tag for each letter, and that each price tag is a different color? I was thinking that it could look something like this with white text: http://images.apple.com/home/images/ipod_touch_20100901.jpg. The colors are bright and vivid, and the letters are easy to read. I really like the way they used those colors.

Also, maybe you can somehow join or combine the price tags from each word (“Si”-“Lo”-“Hay”) so that the user can distinguish between each word (ie. The two tags used in “Si” would be closer to each other than the tag from “I” and “L”; the two tags from “Lo” would be closer to each other than the tags from “o” and “H”).

Finally, I’d like to include the “.com”, but in a more subtle way. It’d be part of the logo, but, if I wanted to, I could eliminate it. Maybe add it to the logo in one separate (and slightly smaller) price tag. Maybe a black price tag with white background and black text… just throwing some ideas.

About the font: I really don’t like that font. I prefer a more rounded font. I also prefer a font whose “a” does not look like the letter “o” with a vertical line to the right.

#29: I don’t like the red border. I find that it’s almost unreadable. The red border takes over the rest of the colors. And there’s way too much red. Red is not the predominant color… it’s one more color in the logo. If you look at the logos I created, the red is used as much as any other color. In your designs, the red is the primary color.

#30: I like the general idea, although I think it’ll be problematic when reducing the logo to a smaller size. With the current draft, unless I move the mouse over it to enlarge it, I find it hard to distinguish the letters from the red background. Maybe you can use a different shade that will create a more crisp contrast between all the colors. Also, I don’t like that shade of green. Maybe a stronger green will help (maybe the green from the logos I had created).
I’m not sure if the white border around the letters helps. For example, in the top half, all colors are light shades. These light colors, plus the white border, may be causing all these colors to blend together and make the letters a little unreadable.
It looks nice having the “.com” like that, but at that size it’s unreadable.

#10: I don’t like the “O”, and the font is too sophisticated. I like the colors.
#11: It seems that the font and color you use is very similar to a logo of a restaurant we have here. Also, since the name is the same color, I cannot clearly distinguish between words.

I've included the logos I had previously created. I'm posting them so you have an idea of what I was thinking... what I wanted to accomplish.

#8, #9: The logo doesn’t really say much. It’s too plain. Maybe if you use another font, and more colors, it’d be better. Also, the symbol doesn't say much about the site... it doesn't seem related to the business name.

#12: It’s nice, but I don’t think it would go with the site. It’s too busy, and the “O” looks like the AT&T logo. Instead of looking like the word “Lo”, it looks like “L” with a symbol next to it. I think it defeats the purpose of using the words. I need to be able to read the logo perfectly.

#3: I did see a similar logo once that looked real nice. It was the same idea, but each letter had a box, and each box was a completely different color. The font wasn’t cartoonish and it was definitely narrower than that one. If you can somehow combine those two elements, that’d be great.
    #4 & #5: I don’t like the font, it’s too cartoonish. I also don’t like the colors (there’s too much red).
#16: For some reason the image over the logo looks like the face of a joker. I also don’t like the way the name is curved.
#19: The font is nice, but it’s too futuristic for the site. I also don’t like the symbol… it reminds me of Superman’s symbol.
#20: The font is too narrow and too small. The letters are too close together.
#6, #7: The colors are too dark and the font is too squared. I also don’t want the tagline added to the logo. Unless there’s a more subtle way of adding the “.com” (ie. It cannot be the same size as the logo), I prefer not to include it.

#1: The colors are way too light and the font is way too thin. You mention the name twice with different logos.
#2: I don’t like the font (it looks like a common font) and I don’t like the colors. The colors are very similar to the logo of a nasal decongestant.

The main reason I posted here is because I need some creativity for my logo... I need the creativity that I lack. But I need a little more than just typing in the name of the business and changing the colors. I can do that for free.

I've uploaded what I had previously created with Fireworks, so you have an idea of what was going through my head.

That said, I don't think I want the tagline included in the logo.

I also need to emphasize (either by colors and/or using capital letters) that "Si", "Lo", "Hay" are three different words. Remember that the phrase literally means "Yes We Have". If my logo looks like "yeswehave", visitors are not going to notice the three separate words. This needs to be emphasized.

Also, unless the symbol next to the logo can somehow subtly combine all three of the top distinguishable letters (in my case "SLH" from "SiLoHay"), I don't think I want a symbol next to the name. Some examples of logos that use their initials efficiently are Hewlett-Packard (HP), Volkswagen (VW), LG, and Sun (S).

Also, unless there’s a more subtle way of adding the ".com" (ie. It cannot be the same size as the logo), I don’t want to include it either.

I've also seen a few web 2.0 logos where the business name has a color background and is composed of negative space (youtube, skype)

Regarding the font, I'm more inclined to use round fonts. I don't like square fonts. My logo has an "a" and an "o", and I've seen fonts where those two letters are almost identical. I prefer a font where I can distinguish between those two letters with ease.
