The contest has ended and I would just like to say thank you to all the designers who put in effort on this project. Whether I rated your design high or low I appreciate the work non-the-less.

Ive selected design #159 as the winner. It just won over a few other very strong designs due to its excellent versitility. A simple colour change could make it strong in any web design or layout and I can see beyond its display on this website. It will be equally suitable for all divisions in the business and we are very happy with it.

I have tried to rate all the designs on the project as a courtesy for the work put in, just to give everyone some feedback, however for some reason I cant now rate the remaining designs, apologies. Just let me say I was almost universally impressed with the work over the last couple of days and I feel that most of you gave it a really good go.

Well done, Logoguru community. I wish you all luck on future work.

OK guys, we've got a steady stream of strong designs coming in and we are down to the last day. Its all still very much up for grabs please keep the designs coming. Thank you all for your work so far, I look forward to seeing what we have by the end of the competition.

athompson, thank you for having a go at my request. Whether you win or lose this project, you get 10/10 for professionalism with regards to your attitude.

I've been working very diligently to create the cattle brand idea you have been discussing. I just submitted one I think you may like. :)

Thanks for the new drafts designers, I am enchoraged by some of the new work. I have rated all the designs (140 at last count).

Could somebody please have a go at the cattle brand idea, something that looks like it was seared onto the page? Thanks, keep the work coming. I will continue to critique.

Thanks for the effort guys, but could we please stop using 'you'r welcome' as a slogan. It isnt one that we listed in the brief and it doesnt make gramatical sense. I am really keen for designers to read my coments and give original designs, please dont submit designs that look near identical to other designers efforts. This project isnt won yet and re-hashing past designs is unlikley to produce a winner. I said why #53 and #89 were good but I need people to put there own spin on things. Be creative and follow the brief and these comments. Thanks designers.

Thank you athompson, its good to have people ask questions (I will always answer them, designers!).

Yes, the bull is cropping up more and more. While I don’t want to dismiss it totally I can tell you what I don’t want it to be........

Any bulls or animals can't seem too cartoony because this will take away a professional business edge away from the design. The bulls cant seem too aggressive either, they can’t look too ‘energy drink’ or ‘nascar’ if you know what I mean. When designing anything around that kind of design you have to remember that this logo will not only be a marketing company logo but it will also represent models to the fashion industry and you have to ask yourself is it suitable for that application. It can’t be either masculine or feminine. So like I say, I don’t want to put people off the bull idea completely, but it has to meet the criteria above. Thank you athompson for posing the question.

I want people to look at designs #89 and #53. They are rated the highest so far for the following reasons:

    1. They look ‘marketing’, that is they are clean and professional looking with just enough edge/grunge to imply that the company is young, vibrant and fresh.

    2. They meet the criteria for implying power or force through the word ‘charge’. They both look like they were forcefully stamped down onto the page. To me, without any gimmicks or unnecessary elaborations, they convey impact while remaining clean.

    3. I think that they are suitable to represent models.

Since I like the impact of designs #53 #89, I have a suggestion. Could some designers (not all) try and create a logo that looks like it was cattle branded onto the page. Maybe this is a way to get the force and impact I am after. Please just try and remember to keep it true to the 3 points above.

While I would like designers to use the mood of #53 and #89 to produce drafts, could I please ask you to keep it original. There seems to be a lot of repetition through the drafts with one designer being influenced by the next. You are all talented designers (I have looked at all of your portfolios) and the reason I came to this website is because I wanted the unique ideas of multiple designers. Remember #53 and #89 are the best so far and give off the same mood, but they look nothing alike.

How comfortable are you with the bull? Its been coming about more and more and I want to make sure we are all going in the direction that you are wanting... Thank you. ;)

Good improvement today! I am pleased to see some very nice designs from niclogo and a good effort from zed1x1. I would like future designs to take a cue from the mood in #53 #54 #55 #56. They are fresh, professional looking and modern. They all symbolize or allude to impact or strength while at the same time not looking to aggressive. I could defiantly see three of those four designs on a website or in an advertising campaign. I know I asked for slogans not to be used but it really works in draft #53, well done.

Draft #58 looks a pro logo and while it is a tiny bit ridged and formal it is encouraging work.

I think both designers have read the brief and understood it.

Could I also ask designers to stop giving one letter in the name a different colour if is isn’t the C. People seem to be doing this particularly with the ‘a’ and ‘g’. I understand that you will be doing it for aesthetic balance but it also raises a question that is never answered. I would just like to stay clear of this, thanks.

*Please note, as I write this draft #58 is the newest design.

Ok guys, thank you for today's drafts. Unfortunately, it seems very few of the drafts are coming even close to the look we want at this stage (I know there is time left). With the exceptions of drafts #8 #11 #33 #26 #20 #45 #46 and #47, that we think are reasonable and/or have the potential to be developed further.

While I genuinely do appreciate the effort from every one of you, regardless of whether your designs hit the spot or not, I am disappointed to see simple design mistakes being made in some cases. We can't use a logo for our business where the contrast of the company name is damaged by the placement of a design element. We can't use a logo where the font, and therefore the company name, is barely legible or recognizable. I need the designs, at a bare minimum, to be functional in a business environment. Regardless of whether designs meet my creative brief or not I need all designers to look at their draft before posting and ask the question ‘does this design look pro? Would it look comfortable on a billboard, business card, magazine page or website and make premium brands trust this company and feel comfortable with this level of branding?’.

I have also not requested design styles that use initials, but I see some drafts are using them. Issues with which colour to use for a background…………. All of this could be addressed by reading the brief thoroughly.

Could we see some designs make greater use of symbols? We seem to be getting a bias to typographic designs. Fvdesigner I like your bugle design, but the bugle itself isn’t suitable. Could you please develop this idea with a new motif and drop the colour for one letter. Kewlibra, I quite like what you have done, could you try different placement of your ‘wave’ and maybe play with the font a little, you may not be that far off something that clicks. Could you please, however, supply designs with a big enough resolution to display a little bigger? It would just help us out with visualization. If I have mentioned your draft number in this comment would you please revisit and put a new spin on it.

    Thanks for your time.

BrandDesigner, please read the brief throughly: I ask for designs to be displayed on white or charcoal/black background.

  • 14 juillet 2010 15:47 BrandDesigner

On your brief you say you want charcoal or black background but in your comment you said you would like white or charcoal background.

Can you please let us know which is the correct one?

Dont worry descom3, its an easy mistake to make. Please show me some new designs.

Although your Zero 50 logo was for the wrong project, I think it looks strong, goodluck with developing that for the other project.

Thank you for today's designs guys. We are slowly moving in the right direction, however I am really looking for somebody to look in detail at the brief, follow the links and perhaps do a little research to put some creativity in there and grab our attention. Some of the designs are good but I don't think any really address the brief (granted, I see draft #11 showing the force implied in the word 'charge').

I should add that we have a graphic design department within our business, but we see it as healthy to seek outside designs for our own business. If we designed in-house we fear we could struggle to depart from our existing style and we don't want to become stale.

I have had a look through many designer's portfolios on this site (including all in this project so far) and I am confident that all of you have it in you to win this project based on the standard of your past work. Please don’t use any drafts as a cue to your own design unless it is specifically praised as being the way forward, we are looking for originality from each designer. May I also reiterate that designs should be displayed on either white, or charcoal, backgrounds.

I appreciate your efforts so far, designers. I look forward to seeing new works.

Hi danielwatson, thanks for drafts #7, #8, #9. You are heading in the right direction, but these dont grab me. I see what you have done with the +- theme and its ok, but I think we are trying to push 'Charge', as in, as a bull would charge.

Please look again at this project, I like your work.

Thank you for your efforts descom3, however I dont think it really captures the criteria in the brief. We need to capture the power of the name in any symbols used. Please view the links in the brief for companies that we view as having strong branding and also the links to our competitors. Also, the company is called 'Charge' and not 'Change'. Thanks descom3, I look forward to seeing more of your designs in the future.
