Eliminated Draft#170 because Draft#174 is the latest and greatest and they look pretty much the same.

Further eliminated designs to form the pool of finalists. The winner of this contest will be selected from the pool of finalists.

    New submissions are still welcomed!

    Thank you all!

    For Draft#33:

As mentioned before, the form of the Faerie Dragon seems a bit too fierce, but it is still very nicely formed. We like how the Faerie Dragon does not call attention to itself quite as much as in Draft#48. We also like the spark at the tail to bring more emphasis to the company name.

The main things we would like try for this design are:

    1. If we can make the wings feel more translucent as in Draft#21 and Draft33 that would be ideal.

    2. Could we try a blue color scheme, perhaps like that in Draft#28?

    3. Do you think we can curl the body of the dragon around the company name in a more circular manner as in Draft#48? The curvature in this draft feels a bit "light" on the bottom right corner because the tail slopes to the left too sharply.

    4. After consulting with several colleagues, we felt that it is best to represent the additional legs. Otherwise the design feels a bit out of balanced and missing something.

    5. Since there are times we will only be using the graphic without the company name, the design probably will have to take this usage into consideration so that the tail may feel too long without the words. I'm not too sure how we might do that with this design right now though.

    For Draft#48:

We really like how tightly integrated the graphic is with the company name. The form of the Faerie Dragon also closely resembles the reference. We also like the clean font.

The main things we would like to try for this design are:

    1. A different color scheme where the viewer's first focus will not be called quite just as much to the purple of the dragon's body so the company name can stand out a bit more. It would also be nice if the color scheme could integrate better with the existing scheme for our website.

    2. Perhaps make the Faerie Dragon's wings a bit more angular at the joints as in Draft#33.

    3. Since there will be times we would just want to use the Faerie Dragon graphic alone with the logo, perhaps the tail should curl up or be shortened to suit this purpose. What do you think about this?

Thank you guys for the effort you are putting in here. Appreciate it.

After looking at the new submissions, we decided that the current best-of-breed designs are we would like to continue to develop are:

    Draft#48
    Draft#33
    Draft#28

We will, of course, continue to seriously consider all submissions as well.

I will post feedback on each of these separately.

Thank you for the new submissions!

Draft#36 - Draft47: Very nice new Faerie designs. I like both the orange and purple versions. The Faerie Dragon and Faerie looking at a globe of light is a particularly appealing composition. :)

One issue I see with this set is that the Fearie's wings do not look smoothly rounded/curved. We don't have to fix them right now as concepts, but we will need them addressed if this design is to win the contest. Draft#49 is probably my favorite of this set although I wonder if the radial light behind the logo will work well with non-black backgrounds in general?

Draft#48 is also another fantastic design. I love the color scheme and the subtle gradient on the text. There really isn't very much else I could add to this design other than for us to explore some more color schemes and fantasy fonts. Bravo!

Draft#28, Draft#30: Very interesting. This design reminds me of what we might see for shoppes in a Renaissance Fair.

I am not too sure about the fonts, but the overall design and color themes have possibilities. Thank you!

Draft#29: Nice exploration of the "touch" metaphor. I like it although will we be able to detach the company name from the logo if wished? Also, would it make things more complicated if we were to expand upon the "touched" symbolism? For example, what if we added some suggestions of magic/spark at the junction(s) where the tail and the letter touched? What if we made the tail and letter very close together but not actually joined?

Draft#23, Draft#24, Draft#25: Thank you for these slight design variations. It's very helpful to see them for comparison.

Here are some changes I like a bit less than in Draft#22:
    1. The Fairie Dragon's jaw is not quite as appealing as before. I realize you were trying to make it seem less fierce.
    2. The additional legs make anatomical sense but seem to add extra complexity to the form. I wonder if there are other options to add these legs and still maintain the simplicity. If not, we can consider removing the added legs.

In terms of the company logo, having the word "Feytouched" larger than "Studios" seems to generate strong impact. Also, the word should be "Studios" with the letter "s" :)

Draft#20: Fantastic looking Fairy Dragon. It is perhaps a bit too fierce than gentler feel in the reference.

The company logo now stands out and has improved placement. We'll have let this design sink in a bit, and to explore some alternative color schemes.

This is a strong entry with great potential!

Draft#18: Nice Fairie Dragon form. It captured the essence of the reference. I really enjoy its sense of freedom and movement.

One thing I am not too sure about is the head. I wonder it would look even better if shaped closer to that of a dragon or lizard.

I wonder if the purple color scheme is going to clash with the scheme for our website? Also, the font is good, but not quite as eye-catching as some of the previous designs. Lastly, I wonder if we can locate an even better placement for the company name?

Thanks everyone for the wonderful submissions. I really love how the designs are evolving based on inputs on previous designs. Please keep them coming!

Draft#11: Nice work replicating the "look-and-feel" of the graphics on our website! The fairy sitting on an arc with fairy dust is a nice touch as well. The overall design reminds me a bit of Disney in a good way.

The form of the fairy is closer to what we have in mind than that in Draft#10. However, it is still not quite as close to the high fantasy genre as we would like to see.

Here are some additional references on the fairy forms we might consider:

Draft #14: Interesting combination of different elements from previous designs. I also like the this new Fairy Dragon form. I see some potential in this design, although I'm not sure if the black color scheme will work very well for the various purposes we have for this logo.

Draft #10: I like the the color scheme. The blue makes the design "pop" and brings about the magical feeling. Also the hand gesture of the fairy is quite symbolic and connects the graphic to the company name. The fonts are great as well.

One thing I'm not too sure about in this design is the form of the fairy. It can be interpreted as a playful fairy or an "adult" oriented one. It may be ideal if her form somehow invokes the style that the audience associates with Dungeons & Dragon and/or other high fantasy art.

Thank you for the new submissions.

Draft #4-7: I like the playful feel. The color scheme is also more pleasant than Draft #1,3. However, the overall feel it may be too youthful and it does not quite seem to convey the sense of magical world we are looking for. I like the font for the word "Studios", but not quite as much for "Feytouched".

Draft #8-9: The form for the dryad and ivies are very well done. I like how their forms are still very perceptible at smaller sizes. I'm not too sure about the form of the dragon as much. Also the color scheme feels a bit too "heavy" to convey the magic quality of fairies. In terms of placement of the company name, Draft#8 feels more natural.

Here are two mascot design ideas we like to pursuit. We will also consider any other ideas you might have, of course. :)

    1. An abstracted but still very recognizable Faerie Dragon close to the reference.

    2. An abstracted pixie or fairy sitting on a toadstool in a moonlit forest; similar to the design of our webpage header.

Carla, thank you for submitting the first design on this project! You are right, the font does bring out that fairy tale feel. However, I'm not too sure about the current mascot design and the colors in this case. Perhaps our color theme worked well for the website but not as good for logos?
