  Considering much of our services are building business relationships, security/trustworthiness/Identity Management/etc., and working with people (After all, we are a consulting firm: Provide Professional Services, I.T. Staffing, etc.), I wonder if there could be a way to integrate a person object, something to show trust (padlock, interlocking chain, etc.) into the logo?

However, if you are providing 2 or 3 different color versions of the same logo in one draft, please make sure that if the particular draft gets finalized, each color version should be separated before you will send the final files.
