You can respond and provide feedback individually by clicking on the designers name under the design and it should bring up all of their entries, then you can rate and comment to them personally.
We do like feedback because it keeps us motivated and keeps us in tune with what you are exactly looking for.....
I know all of us are very glad that the designs are veiled.
This is our first time using a design contest. We now realize that because the project is a veiled project we should not make precise references to design drafts and should not share designer's concepts with other designers. We apologize for doing so. Our minds remain wide open to all concepts.
P.S. We do actually like the duality of what we might call the "steering wheel" in draft 6. That duality at once suggests our car-motorhome duality and movement in general (a la the famous Duchamp painting "Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nude_Descending_a_Staircase,_No._2). ... As we mentioned in our project description, we think threeness serves better than twoness to symbolize the multiplicity-in-unity, the dynamism-at-peace, which we are trying to connote. However, it might be that the relative simplicity of twoness might trump threeness in the context of the designs that emerge in this contest. We'll see. Adding a third "steering wheel" will be an interesting project. And if you wish to take it further per the Duchamp reference, please give that a try.
Eventually we might sell motorbike rentals, but currently we do not. Currently we are only selling: motorhome rentals (for travel in Europe, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and eventually many more regions); car rentals worldwide; and French short-term car leases for visitors to Europe. Our clientele is worldwide.
We eliminated one design because it showed a motorcycle.
Draft 12 shows a house. We can understand why, but we think a house icon suggests that we rent houses and flats, which we do not.
Drafts 8 and 9 use the "OTO" of "MOTORVANA" to construct an inconic car. However, my first impression of the elevated "T" was that it was an iconic tree. Also, we don't want to suggest cars at the expense of motorhomes. Most of our revenue actually comes from motorhome rentals.
(By the way, we keep using all capitals to spell Motorvana. We are open to small caps. For some reason we seem to like the boldness and power of the all caps, but we also like the understatedness of small caps. You decide.)
Some sort of blend of drafts 4, 5, 6, 7 are what we envision. We prefer a more modern font than used in draft 4. We appreciate the effectiveness and generality of the imagery used in draft 4, but we think it needs to be more abstract. We think there is a possibility to blend drafts 4 and 6 in this respect, replacing the too general swooshes of draft 6 with an abstract steering wheel, and adding some stylized, abstracted mountains/trees/sun, maybe the glint of the sun off the steering wheel or windshield or mountains. There might even be a single, stylized thumb of the driver, i.e. holding the wheel in a very relaxed fashion, at the lower right of the icon.
It's quite a challenge, we know, to connote the dynamism and adventure of worldwide car/motorhome travel and the nirvana-like peace of (international) travel that proceeds extremely smoothly and painlessly from the booking process through to the return of the vehicle.
We're still in the very early stages of the contest and we very much welcome and are open to all conceptions.
