A unique service provider in the landscape and garden industry. See thelandmechanic.com for philosophy, background and services provided. hoping to communicate the dynamic aspects of the earth and my company's techniques of diagnosing, overhauling and maintaining land while letting the ground express itself. the "mechanic" metaphor refers to treating gardens as kinds of machines that have predictable and periodic needs. also that gardens function as a system of interdependent components such as water, light, plants and wildlife. Ultimately we create places where through phenomena people are emotionally affected and therefore develop an awareness and affection for the place. While this all sounds very serious, there's a humor and playfulness and even punk in what we do that needs to be legible in my brand. A wry, subtle and clean impression blended with perhaps a retro, gritty quality to emphasize the "mechanical" metaphor appeals to me. Ideas and elements I've considered: Lines of topography; tools like wrenches, shovels; implications of movement, esp. cyclical and/or evolutionary; application of force; my thumbprint; "Sweet Pea", my 1964 econoline pickup (will upload images); gears; graphic plant silhouettes. Will upload some examples but am not tied into anything I've done so far. |

A certain pea-green that is the color of my truck. Will upload pix and hex code/Pantone swatch. Doesn't have to be the dominant or singular color though. Would like the brand to read well in greyscale also. | ||
