Hi guys, thanks for your patience, i have spent afew days going over all the entries, i have been very happy with the overall participation in my comp. Finally it came down to a hard decision between 2 drafts #654 from Pramod & #552/#550 from Aerodynamics. Sorry to have taken so long, but it was a really tough decision as you all had put alot of work and imagination into your entries, and i would of loved to have had both, but ultimately i can only have 1 logo. It came to a choice between creativity or a more professional look. I showed the designs to other industry professionals and finally i decided draft #654 by Primod. I am very happy with the outcome of this competition and will recommend it to other companies in need of help in this area. I may want help in the near future with our other business needs - web pages, brochures etc. I can only thank you all enormously for all your hard work and creative input, the wide range of styles was brilliant. Cheers guys, we may have another project soon. Thanks!! :)

@jampop, -Thank you for your kind words. Good luck to you too! And good luck everyone! :)

@ aerodynamics - see your point, design differs from one designer to another. Everyone is individual... Am a fan of yours and wish you luck in this project!!

    Re: @jampop,
I'm not trying to explain everything to you (cause you're smart already and also a brand consultant) :), it's just when you start a discussion, normally you might expect someone to join the chat.
Anything illustrative from my designs can be easily simplify to just few lines depends on the media and/or purpose, and it'll still has its distinctive values. What's being displayed here ofcourse aside trying to visualize according to PH's brief & comments (and win the contest), it also just a further extend from a simple shape. We can also see many renowned logo also has its illustrative value/version, such as logo for cafe, summit, country's exhibition, etc, It's an added value, e.g: how far the concept can be 'stretch'.

If you say I can't make a simple and sharp logo, you're more than welcome to compare my portfolio and yours. In a positive way ofcourse.

@aerodynamics - no offence here, but your drafts are more of an illustration than a simple, effective logo. Being also a brand consultant you don't need to explain anything to me ;-)

    @robin56,
of course, readability is important,.. but it doesn't just stop there. What I meant by 'recognizable' is, for example,.. even if at the second time people see the logo only in half (or even couldn't read it because too far away), they could still recognize the brand. One common idea is that they might remember it easier if the logo (in someway) is not like everyday items (e.g: photo in catalogs, etc)

  • 14 février 2011 18:46 robin56

    It has to readable.

  • 14 février 2011 15:46 aerodynamics

@ jampop, maybe what Project Holder meant by 'snap shot from a sceen on a carpet, tile or concrete cleaning job' is what we know as 'logo applications'. So in this case, I assume he just want the logo to be also applicable to a some background and/or ambience that's specific to their industry (e.g: to help explain the "what").
While the logo itself should be simple and bold enough to convey sharp messages, we can also consider where and how the logo will be use, to create the right and/or specific shape for the idea.

I don't think it's way out of the design school as someone stated yesterday (sorry I forget who, it has been erased by admin). It's just a misinterpretation, I think.

    Just my2cents again :)

  • 14 février 2011 15:24 aerodynamics

Well guys, in my opinion, I think it's ok to use a drawing/illustration of a wand machine as long as it's not just an exact traced from a photograph.
Cause when it is, obviously you'll lose uniqueness and it's almost the same as you using only a stock art. Also, CMIIW, the brand could be mistaken with a seller of that specific wand.

And as for the 'very clear and easy to read' case, I think the more right term for it is 'recognizable' in just a glance. This way you won't lose the fun in it.

    Just my2cents.

Sorry guys but iI'm going to have to extend as I am still waiting for some designers to submit revisions. I suppose it gives extra time for those who have not been contacted. Thanks!!

Sorry but the meaning of the corporate logo is not easy reading on a fast-moving objects ...

Draft #251 very industry specifif also very clear and easy to read from first glance. Some are a bit hard to read if you look quickly whereas if you saw #251 on a van driving down the freeway you would easily be able to read it!!

'snap shot from a sceen on a carpet, tile or concrete cleaning job' hi, this may work better as a photograph to work in literature, rather than a 'logo' this could be too much going on in our opinion.

Rather than go with the flow as what may be expected, try something a little different, something that makes your logo stand out and has a clever twist that is memorable, and not too many colors, that's the key... just a little advice, of course you don;t have to take it ;-)
