I want to design a logo for my new organization, Fluid Philosophies. The function of the organization will be to raise money and awareness for some of Nepal’s young, elite kayakers. Further, I want to be able to use this money to support creative projects for myself and these boys. The logo will be used on the website, print media and T-shirts. The organization is Kathmandu-based, Himalayan inspired and rooted in river culture. I have an idea in my mind of what I want as the logo, but lack the design talent to bring it to physical reality. Firstly, I want the main image of the logo to be portrait silhouette of a sadhu (Hindu holyman). Something with the perspective such as: http://media.lonelyplanet.com/lpimg/18902/18902-6/preview.jpg I want the sadhu to have a turban as well as a beard. To contrast this, I want the sadhu to be wearing very sporty sunglasses such as the Oakley M-Frame. To contrast the image of the sadhu further, I want the sunglasses to be worn with Chums: sport sunglass holders such as this: http://store.ocscsailing.com/catalog/chums_main.jpg http://www.muskyhuntercatalog.com/image/cache/data/chums-500x500.jpg These are typically worn by kayakers and rafters. In the logo, I want them to be visible and draping down the neck of the sadhu. I want this logo to be inspiring, provocative and cool. I want it to represent the culture of Nepal, the simple lifestyles of kayakers, contrasted with the irony of a sadhu wearing high-end sport sunglasses. The chums are a symbol of a river-runner. The organization seeks to empower young, uneducated Nepali boys to find outlets for their creativity and tell their own stories using technology and media. |
