Thanks everyone for your entries! There were three entries that our members argued over for a couple hours. Needless to say, you are all very talented, and there are several logos we would have happily claimed as ours. Nonetheless, there can be only one winner.

On a side note, I had a family emergency come up and had to leave town. This ran into my vacation, so in the end I was gone for two weeks. I apologize for my truancy in selecting the winner.

Without further ado, congratulations tidaktampak. Our members selected #19 as our new logo.

We would to request the design file (the photoshop or gimp file with all the layers and masks still in it) in case we want to modify the design in the future.

For anyone interested, will be running another contest to design letterhead and a business card based off this logo in the next week or two.

    Cheers,
    - Jamie

Draft #21: I like the stylized lightbulb. I will present it as is Friday to our Members. Thanks for your submission.

In general, after seeing several designs, I personally think putting Taylor Intellectual LLC in upper case looks better than proper case. Also, I'd like to see the LLC smaller than the Taylor Intellectual part, as done in design #14 and #17.

Drafts #10, #11, #12, #17, and #19: Thank you very much for your work. These are excellent and polished, so I don't think further revisions would get us anywhere. Drafts #12, #17, and #19 will be among those I present to our members (owners) for picking a final logo. Thank you for for revisions.

Drafts #15 and #16: In general, thanks for the revisions. After pointing out the difference between drafts #13 and #14, I must confess, I like the caps of #14 better, hah. Sorry that I missed the obvious before. Regarding #15, I definately like the thicker letters in the logo itself, but the balance between the tagline and the logo still feels extreme. Try changing our tagline to "CREATIVE AND QUALITY PATENT SOLUTIONS" and enlarging it to see if that fixes it. (I've been trying to persuade the members to change it for some time and this gives me ammunition!) Regarding #16, the balance and spacing feels awkward to me still. Try the tagline change. I'd like to present #15 this to our members either way, but I think the tagline change would give a stronger logo. Thank you for your revisions.

Draft #18: Interesting concept. Thank you for your submission, but to me it looks too similar to a cross, which has obvious religious undertones. As such, I don't think this design would fit within our vision.

Draft #20: Beautiful design; well put together. While it doesn't have the obvious symbolism some of the other designs do, I do like it. I'll include it in the designs I present to our members if you change the company name in accordance with the general notes at the top of this comment. Thanks for your submission.

Thank You so much for your feedback!
The draft #14 has just the uppercase. I'm on it to make the modifications you requested.

Also regarding Drafts #13 and #14: these look the same to me... what am I missing?

Drafts #10 to #12: Overall these are very good. I'm going to hold off a day before I give more feedback because I want to talk to a couple people first, other than to say I might have been confusing in my last instruction: the "LLC" part isn't small enough. I would suggest making the LLC either about half the font size (unless this looks funny with the embossing: I'll let you be the judge) or leaving at 100%. Ideally, it would be smaller, but if it looks funny... Don't worry about submitting more drafts until the next set of instructions because I might have a better feel for which of the three we like best. Thanks for your submissions.

Drafts #13 and #14: very nice and creative! Two suggestions to make your drafts better for our needs. First, consider making the light bulb darker (more gold, less yellow?). I'm worried that wont stand out well on white paper. The difference in font sizes between the logo itself and the catch phrase is pretty big. I'm worried that either (i) one couldn't read the catch phrase because it's too small or (ii) the logo would be larger than we intended on letterhead or business cards. Thanks for your submissions!

Draft #1: We would like some level of substantial graphic beyond a monogram, if present, which is why we didn't identify a monogram as a preferred design choice in the brief. The text portion is my favorite of the options so far, but the mark itself doesn't fit within our vision. Thank you for your submission.

Draft #2: There might be something here in the logo itself, but it seems underdeveloped at this point. Particularly, the mark itself appears low quality, and we'd prefer to keep the text off the logo. Thank you for your submission.

Drafts #3-#7: We really like the idea of using the light bulb, which links to our previous design and symbolizes creative thought. Overall this is a good direction. A couple thoughts to raise your ratings (and make it more likely to win): (i) consider making the company name all in caps and making the "LLC" part smaller (we want the emphasis on "Taylor Intellectual" with the LLC as an afterthought), and (ii) consider moving the text to the right instead of below. I don't like the text portion as much as the graphic itself. Lastly to let you know, of your current submissions, we like #6 the best: the color combination and the way it pops. Thanks for your submissions.

Drafts #8 and #9: Regarding #8, we don't like this abstract design as much. It's polished and nice, but it isn't for us. Regarding #9, we like the flame, and it's a great abstract design. However, I personally doubt it will compete with designs that are more symbolic of chemistry, creative thought, and/or patents when we go to actually pick a design. Thank you for the submissions.

After discussion with our PR manager, we think it would be better to cur potential designers loose and let your creative juices flow. COntrary to the brief, feel free to use any color combination and number of colors you feel would work for our design. We would prefer emphasis on black, blues, and golds, but we are open to other color combinations.

As noted before, I will give feedback on your designs daily.

Something that I forgot to mention in the brief but is of critical importance: please PLEASE DO NOT BASE your design on a gavel, a judge's bench, or of the scales of justice. These designs are all to commonplace and generally aren't associated with patent law like they are with criminal law. Thanks!
