lead29 was actually working with me on the squares and rectangles as early as design #90 [ (you can see them by going to my early messages in my comments section).
He had leafs within the squares as early as design #174. In fact, his final designs are quite unique and follow designs he had worked on previously with me. In fact, he could say the same about your design...I am not the proper judge on who is correct.
It is unfortunate your designs are similar, but I do not believe either of you were directly copying any of each others works.
The Site Administrator says that it is common that a concept of the two designs can be similar to a certain extent and it should be probable between entries in the same project.
However, if you think that your design has been unfairly copied by another designer, you can contact the Site Adminstrator and I will follow their rulings.
It is not my responsibility as PH to judge copyright, only to guide & select the final design in a fair manner, which I believe I have done.
A very unfortunate situation for sure. All of that said, I still have not selected a final design and will discuss with my collegues.
We're getting down to the last few hours, so I have elimated designs even though I rated them high. If I can't see the logo actaully working for the company, I am eliminating it.
I think I am geetting close to what I want. There are many examples of abstact icons that represent "construction"...and many have the "green" or "environmental" flavor withour being overwhelming.
Glad to see you're back in it. I like the leaf and the square from #910. Maybe that can be stacked on the left of #911 design?
For #911, I am having a hard time with the proportions. If it were a house on the left, it is quite a tall strange shape.
I really like the direction of #905 & #854 from other designers. There may be something there that you can incoporate with your #782 or #844...I like the fact that the house is just a shape...the outline represents more "construction" to me, than just a "house," which is the right direction.
Could you "frame" a PB with a simple outline similar to this?
I uploaded a logo file I have previously created. This is more the style of icon I am going for. You can see the house, the commercial building, there was a drafting cursor which would also represent "consulting." What it did not have is a leaf or anything representing the environment. However, the swooping arc could easily be incoporated as a leaf. Feel free to take this idea and develop it. I always felt the proportions are off, so it could use modifications.
Thanks to all the designers who have participated. I am re-opening the competition because I don't feel I have exactly what I want. However, I think that I am very close. I now have direct feedback and an understanding of exactly what I want.
I have 12-13 designs that I have left stand for improvement. I will comment on the leaders and what changes I would like to see.
the green and the leaf went viral closer to the endo of the design and they are not mandatory. Any abstract element that would suggest we care about the environment and design with that in maind is acceptable.
Do not get too caught up in complex designs as I am more drawn to abstact elements. I find the intracate details get lost when the logo is used in a smaller design and a small format logo is something that we will use all the time. So the design has to work at a small scale.
I also want to stick to a two-color design.
My general comments are as follows:
I am looking for an icon to base the design around. lead29's #782 would be my best choice. What it lacks is some abstract elements that would immediately lead you to believe it was a construction company.
designfort's #594 encompasses all of these elements, but I just feel that the leaf design is too bold. you see the leaf before the rest of the icon. But again, it is the best at getting all elements.
Nadya's #823 is also an excellent start on the design, but she came in so late, I didn't have any chance to critque the design. I hope to see addtional drafts.
BlackCatCreations design #845 was not in my top three...I think because the leaf again was too strong, but I did a test market survey of my logo and it was rated high.
pitulas's #400 was another logo that rated high and had some potential.
immanuel's #270 is an example of a logo that rated high that I feel is a little too complex.
refresh's #300 was not chosen by any of my sample audience, but there is something I like about the overall design, and I give the designer credit for choosing some different colors.
Thanks again, and I hop you will continue to participate!
lead29, I like where you are going with #779 & #780. My final thoughts are if I could incoporate any iconic elements that represent both residential and commerical construction. What if the "PB" struck though an angled roof line or such...I think the construction elements have to be quite abstract...Thanks!
designfort, #565 & #566 are very good. If you don't mind, I would change the leaf as per #552 is the one I like. The other change I would like to see is that I like #552 because it has two "floors" or stories which I feel is a bit more appropriate to our marketplace. Thanks!
chocolacer, I was wondering who was going to begin to play with the dot on the i. Thanks for your designs...not what I was going for...but I'd be anxious to see more. Thanks!
lead29, your design #461 is one of my favorties...I wonder if the leaf could break the box...meaning it doesn't have to be entirely in the square. Thanks! Looking forward to some little tweaks!
I like the direction of these last logos #441 & #443. Some suggestions would be to paly with the leaf shapes a bit...I am not sure the proportions feel right. And try some different text...I think that could be improved. Thanks!

Donarkz's #877 is a move in that direction.
Thanks!

We do not do tall builidngs and have very few where we live...maybe try knocking a few stories off your design #495. Thanks!
