Tri-Fold Info Front information: 1. Logo 2. Title: WiFi Hotspot and WiMAX: High Speed Wireless Internet Services 3. Verbiage for front page: Nexus Broadband high speed wireless internet services enable you to browse the internet, connect to social networks (facebook, skype, etc), online banking, enterprise intranet/VPN access, email, play games Inside pages: How do I know which service is right for me?? WiFi or WiMAX?? (please note: not all services are available at every location) A WiFi Hotspot is a service which is used to connect individual users to an Internet service for a specified period of time. Users must register and purchase a plan that suits their needs. The Internet can only be accessed from the computer that the plan was purchased from. To use the service you must log in to use the service. Service plans are usually centered around price and speed. The more the cost, the higher the speed. Consider your online activities when purchasing your time. WiMAX is a “dedicated” wireless Internet service that functions similar to DSL and cable modems. With WiMAX, you open a web browser and the Internet is there. WiMAX Internet is much faster, stable, and can perform functions such as video chat, or watching online movies much easier. How do I access the WiFi or WiMAX networks to create an account? WiMAX: To check availability of WiMAX in your area, please call our office or visit us online for location and pricing information. WiFi: Set your wireless network adapter to pick up the broadcast id for our network. In your list of available networks it will be labeled: Nexus. If your computer does not automatically connect to this network please follow these instructions to configure your computer. (a) Select the wireless network icon on your computer and click on view available wireless networks (b) Find the network name Nexus and select it. (The network will say unsecured in order to allow you to connect to the network to create your account. The network is secured) Once you have configured you computer to access the Nexus wireless network launch your web browser of choice. We recommend Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. When your browser is open, we will automatically redirect you to our log in screen. When you get there select the option to create an account/subscribe. This will require a valid credit card for billing, there is no option to pay in person or by mail. FAQ: Q: My new laptop has WiFi already, why cant I pick up a signal? A: Depending on the make and model of your computer, there may be a switch or keyboard button to turn the wireless on/off. Make sure that you are in the on position and that you have connected to the wireless network (WiMAX is not detectable through a wifi adapter) Q: I signed up for WiFi service, but I can only log on with one computer. Why? A: The WiFi service provided by Nexus is a hotspot system. Hotspot access is granted per computer. If you need to share multiple computers please ask us about WiMax service. Q: The hotspot logs me out after a period of inactivity. What is happening? A: The Nexus hotspot service is not a dedicated always on service, although it is always acceptable. A hotspot is an on-demand service. Q: My connection seems slow, whats wrong? A: Spy-ware software/Internet security programs, and some protection programs will run their service in the background of a website and their scans can interfere with the way your computer processes the information. In many cases they will cause web pages not to load. If you do not know how to configure these programs properly, you may be better off to turn them off while on our network. We have firewalls and security devices in place to prevent the majority of attacks that those programs are looking for. Nothing can be safer than smart computing. If you would like information on Antivirus programs we recommend or on our computer classes, please call our office. Q: How can I increase my signal strength? A: 1. Try moving your computer or wireless adapter closer to a window. Preferably by one that faces our broadcast point. 2. Open curtains or blinds (aluminum sunshades, metallic window/door coverings, and thick sunscreens tend to reflect the signal away from the home) 3. If you are using an older laptop with a weaker wireless card, try using an external connection that could possibly have a stronger antenna which will increase your range and make for a better experience Contact Info: 480-619-5073 www.nexusbroadband.com twitter.com/nexusbroadband Postcard WiMAX service now available in your community. · Surf the web · Social networking (facebook, skype, twitter) · Play online games WiMax High Speed Wireless Internet Service is now available in your community!
