We have to review this contest with several managers so ratings may change or be overridden after going through group deliberations. Thank you all for your efforts and we'll make a decision soon.
We would like to reiterate the purpose of our design - The idea behind the bee theme is not the singular insect but the entire colony, the organization and the geometric shapes. We also like the fluidity and flexibility that the hive can represent. We are a clean, organized highly advanced software company that manages millions of devices. We need to convey large scale with organization, fluidity and technological advancement.
@anujdate #299 I see that you are trying out some use of negative space, but this on is too subtle and you can't read it. The B is lost in negative space.
@staticdesign #275: Good start using the white space as part of the design. I don't like the colors that much and the font is too chunky, but the mark is more creative than the others in here.
Try to think of the negative space as part of the design. Some of the best logos I have ever seen utilize white space in a very creative way. You don't need a lot of 3D effects to make something have dimension.
Here are some examples of very well executed logos using negative space in a creative way:

As for the concept of bees: We are interested in the concept of a bee colony rather than the individual bee. Why? Because a bee colony is highly organized with a very structured method of living. Our logo represents 50 billion devices and the symbolism of a bee hive/colony is an interesting way to convey a large scale operation that doesn't fall into chaos.
We like @BIMPOP's #209 because it is a creative presentation of connectivity. It's fluid and geometric at the same time.
Most of the designs have been making the "B" part of fiftyB too loud. Try making the b flow better with "fifty" by using subtle distinction such as a different color. Try more versions with a lowercase b to see if this makes it more subtle.
@eduard: A lot of your designs are way to psychedelic and remind me of the 60's. Examples: #255, #248
We are a modern company with advanced software technology so the logo needs to convey contemporary times. Other examples of logos that look too old are #236 and #230
I'll be providing lots of feedback in the next couple of hours. Stay tuned.
Okay Designers! We have a rating system for you. We will not longer eliminate logos but just rate them. Here is the rating system:
1 Star: Way off mark. Don't continue with this idea or the logo doesn't follow guidelines.
2 Stars: Follows guidelines but not what we are looking for.
3 Stars: Good start, keep working on it.
4 Stars: Nice work. Only needs minimal changes.
5 Stars: We love it! It needs no work at all and will be a finalist.
I starting eliminating, but didn't realize how difficult it was to see the eliminated logos again in case I change my mind or my coworker wants to see what was eliminated. Therefore, I am going to uneliminate a bunch of logos and just rate them. Sorry for any confusion this may cause.
@smiDESIGN, still deliberating and having Internet issues. Using my phone to look at the moment. Will provide feedback when I can get my computer's Internet working.
To summarize all of my previous comments, here is a list of don'ts:
1. Do not use FB initials as the mark
2. No cutesy or cartoonish bees
3. No antennas on bees
4. The text should read "fiftyB", not "FiftyB" and not"FIFTYB"
5. No boomerangs, halos, swooshes, or ellipses.
And a list of Do's:
1. Abstract is good
2. Geometric patterns are good
3. Subtle is good
4. You are free to try any colors you want. It doesn't have to be orange, yellow, and grey.
5. 3D effects and gradients are okay so long as your design is compatible with 2 color printing.
6. Be creative! You don't have to just do bees and honeycomb.
After looking at all of the bee designs, we found that the antennas make the bee look too cutesy. Therefore, please don't use anymore antennas on bee designs.

The b would definitely need to be a different color to distinguish.
If it doesn't look as good, we'll just revert back to "fiftyB".

After looking at all of your designs, we decided we prefer the lowercase fifty and uppercase B. Try working on some fonts like this.
Color scheme doesn't necessarily need to be orange, black, or yellow. Experiment with colors.
