  #4: I like this direction. I like the contrast between "Deft" and "Digits", omitting the space between them. I like that kind of font.
  
  The image is cool (nicely done on the G chord), but the hand and guitar strings require way too much detail. Could you try simplifying it, removing the word "Seattle", and changing the black to a dark brown?

  #1, #2, #3: There is too much going on in each of these. From my brief, see http://www.heartwoodguitar.com and http://seattle-seo.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/seo-seattle-logo.gif for the kind of simplicity I'm looking for.
  
  The Space Needle inside the guitar pick is kind of cool; there might be some potential there.
  
  Also, I need it limited to two colors, so please avoid gradients.

  One idea: make a guitar out of the D in "Deft" and a Space Needle out of the t in "Deft" or "Digits".

  In case it's not clear in the brief, the complete logo text should read either "Deft Digits Guitar Lessons" OR "Deft Digits Seattle Guitar Lessons". Only use the latter if there is a Seattle symbolic element.
