Another thing to keep in mind: This imprint is for fiction, which can include everything from romance to science fiction. For this reason, we really like the font used in number 33. It doesn't give off a genre specific vibe.
Our current favorites are #33 and #16. We really like the compass element incorporated into #16, but the font is a little too feminine for the wide range of books that will be on this imprint. Could we try a font that is a little more simplistic like we see in #33?
For now, please disregard the comments about font that were previously posted. They are a bit restrictive.
13 is the closest to what we are looking for right now. We would like to see a few different variations on this theme. Try other colors and a different style for the compass (involving the "N" in a more complex compass would be one idea).
We'd also like to see some ideas that go away from the compass idea. This is a book imprint and while the compass is an interesting direction, it does not have to be part of the design. In fact, if you can make the logo interesting without extra elements we'd be open to that too.
Any additional elements in the logo should feel as though they are a part of the logo (In number 1-8 the star and the compass look out of place and aren't really incorporated into the logo well- they almost seem like an afterthought).
Number 13 is getting closest to a literary feel. The dark green and the simplistic font are what push it in that direction. I may suggest trying to refine this idea with something other than the compass and other font choices.
To all designers: Below is a link to a font I love for this project. If anyone has this or something similar, I'd love to see "North Loop" in this font with either that red star (see the picture in the link) or a compass above the "N", then have "books" below "North Loop" but smaller and in a more plain font.

Bigred, I like #2 better. Could you do a version where the compass is over the right-hand side of the "N" and then have "orth Loop" in that same cursive font? Then have books under it.

1. Simple font
2. Easy to drop the compass out if printing on a small book spine is an issue.
While we also like some of the variations on #51 and #46, we are concerned about printing them on a small book spine.
