Hi folks, we're reaching that time where we would like to thank everyone for participating, we really loved all the ideas that were submitted, and even though the staff couldn't quite agree on a full five star rating for any of the entries, I think there should have been multiple winners. Letting go of the 3 star category was already a tough choice, many contain design elements that we could imagine being used in other parts of promotional material - after all, the logo is just a start, and in this case not even final yet. 3 designers made the 4 star rating whereby two (mimasivri and thepractice) reached an almost unrivaled level of acceptance right from the beginning. However special appreciation also goes to smayra10 who bent over backwards to deliver a whole range of different designs, that is to say, smayra10 submitted not just small variations on a theme but an extensive collection of completely different concepts within this short space of time, and several of these ideas became favourites. I wish there would be some way of implementing and rewarding each of your contributions, alas, at the moment, we are still on a budget and this system says there can only be one. So regardless of this particular prize, should any of you feel they can contribute further by enhancing any of our websites and/or materials afterwards, feel free to mail your suggestions and pricing to the bistro directly.
Hi folks, we're new at this so only just found out now that the little green man is subject to licensing:
http://ampelmann.de/
#168#167#150 are leading designs among the others that are rated with 4 stars, but at this stage we don't know if we could get permission to use them and at what price.
oops #172 :-) I think we might have been unclear when we said the Funkturm is 'not solid' like the Fernsehturm.
That didn't mean we wanted it to be filled in as a solid - it just meant that we understood that it's harder to find a silhouette for it. The previous 'i' in #163 became a little faint, but #172 no longer resembles the tower, so we'll eliminate that one.
Bistro, would you mind elaborating a bit more on your comment (The radio symbol is now clearer... although ... well I think we'd be tweaking that minor detail for a while longer.) #165
#163 still remains one of the leading logos as far as recognition goes... it now includes the other tower. It's not easy making a silhouette of the Funkturm since it's not solid... this might need further tweaking, and if that doesn't work, there are other alternatives that can used without too much hassle - flexibility is the main advantage here. Modifications to one block don't impact the others (heard that before somewhere? :-)
#161 now shows the popular #150 on black and grey.
We had to ask because of the dark blouses are planned but admit, that it makes more sense when green man's immediate background stays black because, afterall, that's how a traffic light is. Green man on white 'b' can indeed be done but somehow a black 'b' is better in this case.
So, what options do we have if both the 'b' and the background are black?
Some kind of shadow font perhaps?
#164 misses a dot before the FM but its half-twin #165 is probably the way to go forward because it allows us to remain flexible, i.e. FM or 2000 can be included underneath.
The radio symbol is now clearer... although ... well I think we'd be tweaking that minor detail for a while longer.
Another one that comes straight to the point. Even when viewed without any tag line or text, it clearly conveys the right message. 'B' for Bistro, 'B' for Berlin, a customised green light welcoming people to walk this way for beer... and radio waves.
The only reason we have to be cautious, is because that particular green man is regarded by many as an eastern symbol. This might present a problem with uniforms when worn by poeple from the west, but I will double check with the staff.
We have a similar issue with the tower where I advised below to use the Berliner Funkturm rather than the Fernsehturm. My apologies for these complexities... it's a Berlin thing.
#151 basically a variation of #118. It has the same rating because you fixed the arm :-) I imagine the fine line decoration may become a problem though, so we'll leave both versions in for now.
The type of design portrayed in #33#58#152 have stayed with us for some time now. They stand out well on black and cleverly integrate Berlin as well as webradio into letters. I don't think we can have radio-waves coming out of the top of the dome though, so we're gonna drop #152.
An extra special letter 'B' clearly sybolising Bistro, Berlin, Bear... and as we look closer even the radio - all at once, all in one special letter! Definitely straight to the point. Currently the bear looks like it misses an arm but that's just a flesh wound :-)

Can we see #150 on a black or dark background as well please?
#153 and #154 are also good in essence, yet we might want to compare with a different text font.

I just checked with the staff ... contrary to the tower, the green man is ok! :-D

Increasingly popular.
Logically the waves would be at the top like in #137 but #142 looks better.
On the otherhand, it's possible the wave part might not be recognised as such in #142.
Difficult choice at the moment.

interesting concept:
'Suggested' design ?? (not sure if that's the right word).
Part of an image is drawn and viewers need to guess or imagine the other part in their heads.
Level of recognition suffers a somewhat due to the varying heights though I think.
