Regardless of who wins this contest - we want to thank each of you for having participated enthusiastically and given it your all. The work was amazingly high quality, narrowing down was not easy, and we could have gone far down the list of our favorite drafts and still come up with a very acceptable logo for our firm. That was also the reason we chose to raise the prize money from 317 to 400 just a few days after the project started.
We're glad to have made many friends in the designer community - literally across the world - in just this quick span of 10 days. Sorry we were not able to provide individual feedback to all of you - but we did make sure to response to each and every one-on-one email we received.
Bayard Asset Management started a month ago. Please do wish us luck, so that we may come back with many more design projects in the future! And if one of you ever become a multi-multi-millionaire as a famous designer/artist (which I am sure many of you will!), please do think of Bayard when you are selecting an investment manager for your huge wealth :-)
We will have a winner selected by around 4:00 p.m. New York time.
Thanks everybody - for staying engaged. We really appreciate your effort.
The project is still very much on - we have 1 day + 15 hours still remaining... so please do contribute drafts if you think they might meet our preferences.
The best feedback we can give to you at this stage of the project is:
1. Look at our comments of May 14, 8:50 PM, and,
2. Look at the drafts we've rated 4 (and 3) stars. That will give you a very good idea of which way we are leaning.
Once again - please don't hesitate to send us a one-on-one email if you have any questions.
PLEASE READ THESE COMMENTS BEFORE SENDING A DRAFT - WHETHER YOU ARE JOINING THE PROJECT FOR THE FIRST TIME - OR CONTINUING WITH IT. IT WILL HELP TO MAKE YOUR DRAFT IDEAS MORE RELEVANT.
First - thank you everyone for all the effort. The day is coming closer for us to finalize the project with one of you as the winner.
Here are a few more items of feedback if it helps you:
1. We have enough drafts with squares. The project is moving on now: WE WOULD LIKE TO NOW SEE A LOGO WITH A "B" IN IT. We would like the "B" logo to be on the left of Bayard and Asset Management.
2. Please use your creativity in how you would like to represent a logo with a B in it.... but whatever you do - again - please keep it clean, simple, not aggressive, corporate and sophisticated.
3. We are very attracted to the font selection and shape and sizes you see in #445 (I think that is Trajan Pro - but I am not sure - please check that).
5. Do not include multiple drafts on the same page #. You can give as many drafts as you like. But please give us only one draft per page - so we can see it in full size.
6. You can also look at the 3 and 2 star rated drafts. Although most of them are not the "B" logo style, it will give you a very good idea about the general idea of how we are leaning.
7. We're sorry to not have been able to provide individual feedback to each of you - but if you have any questions or need clarification - just send us a one-on-one email message.
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST BEFORE JUMPING INTO THE PROJECT (OR CONTINUING WITH IT). IT WILL MAKE YOUR DRAFT IDEAS MORE RELEVANT.
We're seeing some great effort from everyone. And so today, we're really happy to raise our guaranteed prize money from $317 to $400. Thanks folks! We will review and give feedback around 10 AM New York time on Friday.
Here is a summary of all the feedback you will need:
1. Have a look at the highly rated drafts (1 and particularly the 2 stars) - that will give you some sense of which way we are leaning.
2. The font styles we like most (for BAYARD as well as ASSET MANAGEMENT) are in #209.
3. We like the colors in #263 as well as #209... but you can be flexible and experiment as you like.
4. Techno, metallic and loud designs are not appealing to us at all.
5. We are about 90% sure we would like a square as part of the logo. But you can experiement with stuff other than a square also. Be as creative as you like but I'll again emphasize: keep the logo simple, elegant, and not "loud" or aggressive.
Don't hesitate to email me if you have questions.
One more comment about the size of the square: It CAN be smaller than the space between the two lines. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO go top to bottom. So you can place it somewhere in the middle of the two lines, or on the line of BAYARD, or some other way.
Also please bear in mind - the square doesn't have to be fully colored inside.
Thanks everyone for your efforts so far. Everyone has been working very hard on this project, so most likely I will be upping the prize money tomorrow .. so please hang in there :-)
Having seen some of the samples so far, here are a few things we are sure of regarding the logo:
1. We do not want the "B" anywhere in the logo.
2. We would like you to use one or more than one simple squares in the logo design.
3. We don't have a strong preference as yet whether there would be one or more than one squares in some combination with each other in the logo - so please try it both ways.
4. The square/s should fit between the two lines of Bayard and Asset Management (so it should be no higher than Bayard and and no lower than Asset Management.)
5. We would like the logo to be on the left side of the Bayard asset management text.
6. We would like you to creatively use a combination of red and black lines in making the square/s. Please don't make the lines too heavy or too thin.
7. You can keep the square blank inside or use some linear design inside the square (for example: maybe a straight version of "#" or just some parallel lines like "=" etc)
8. Also.. one change to the previous guidance we gave is - we want Bayard to be in UPPER case.
We will review and provide detailed feedback once again on Thursday morning NY time.
Good evening ladies and gentlemen... thanks for all the drafts so far.
In stage 1 we have successfully narrowed down a few drafts which came from the tight constraints we had previously set for you.
Now in stage 2 the plan is to now be 100% flexible. There are no constraints from us at this point. You can use any color (up to two), any font, any logo, any style and any design that would appeal to you... no constraints from us. The only thing you should bear in mind is that techno, sci-fi, Star Trekky kind of ideas will most likely NOT work for us. Please make sure to have a logo this time.
Again, please do not forget the basics of the brief - they are all still important: Bayard is a financial services company, managing other people's money, looking to appear solid, stable, safe, reliable, trustworthy and classy.
And this is important: Please don't rush! We have plenty of time on this project. So take your time to think it over and design it nice. We will provide feedback in about 36 hours from now (Wednesday morning, New York time).
Please email me on this site if you have any questions or need clarification.

One update to detailed feedback of May 9, 2011 8:39 AM:
*** We're now sure we want ASSET MANAGEMENT to fit firmly under Bayard (so we're not going down the path of ASSET MANAGEMENT spilling left and right of Bayard) ***
Thanks
'morning ladies and gentlemen - thank you for all your work so far. Here's a 5 point summary of all our prior feedback and a couple of new points:
1. This seems to be one emerging challenge in this project I think: We don't want Bayard to be HUGE in relationship to Asset Management. We need it much smaller than most of the drafts we've seen so far (so that "Bayard" it is not "shooting out" at the viewer). I guess the problem is that Bayard is a small name (6 characters); but ASSET MANAGEMENT has 16 characters and we are trying to fit ASSET MANAGEMENT under Bayard. We need your creativity here in making Bayard not too dominant in space or size in relationship to ASSET MANAGEMENT.
2.If possible, we would like ASSET MANAGEMENT to sit firmly under the Bayard but if you want to try to see how it might look spilling out to the left and right under Bayard, we can give that a shot.
3. ASSET MANAGEMENT should be in all upper case, sans-serif, black and does not need to be super thick (#32 is nice)
4. Bayard cud be serif OR sans-serif. If you think Bayard in serif would look nicer, please avoid super traditional serifs that make it "Gothic" / "Medieval" and try a more "sophisticated" serif. As before, "B" should be capital and the rest of "ayard" should be in lower case. The brick-red/dark'ish red color is good for us.
5. The line under Bayard should be single, black and not thick.
Thanks
#9, #10 and #11 :
(a) It looks nice, but I prefer no color "fade out" in the font as we go "North"
(b) Can you try Bayard in Brick red color and upper lower case (with "B" of course in Upper case and rest lower)
(c) Can you try Asset management a bit larger
and can you try it with Asset Management in a thick black font - all upper case .. it should be larger in proportion even than #11 is at the moment
(d) I like the line under Bayard rather than to the side (#10) or no line (#11)
(e) I'm not sure if I want any background color as yet .. so lets try (a) to (d) with white and try backgrounds (grey/silver/any other color) later

Looking for Bayard to be in upper lower case .. not asll capital.

#12: I'd prefer the lower curve of the "y" staying above the line and not cutting the line
#12: I want a line under Bayard (above ASSET MANAGEMENT)
NOT: ---ASSET MANAGEMENT--- (sides)
#12: For ASSET MANAGEMENT it could be a standard font - but thick and heavy and possibly a little "squat" in appearance
